Batala (Punjab): Members of Christian and Hindu communities clashed and indulged in vandalising public property here today over publication of a picture of Jesus Christ in an allegedly objectionable manner, prompting authorities to clamp an indefinite curfew.

Bidar (Karnataka): The Bidar district police Thursday claimed to have solved the case of an attack on a church in Humnabad town in Bidar district on November 17 with the arrest of a former pastor of the church and three hired goons who allegedly attacked the church.

Sleuths of the CB-CID’s idol wing on Sunday arrested seven persons, including a Christian priest and three traders, for stealing 11 panchaloha idols said to be worth about Rs 1 crore from various temples. While five idols were recovered from a river bed in Vellore district, one was seized from a Chennai lodge and the other five from a Puducherry shop. All the arrested were remanded in judicial custody on Monday.
