Mumbai: Temples are the pillars of support of Dharma. In a meeting held at Vashi Arya Samaj at Navi Mumbai, it was resolved by the trustees of various temples in Navi Mumbai to unite for protection of temples.

Allahabad: Opposing any move towards acquisition of temples by a government, spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravishankar has said that if such a step was indispensable, it must not apply only to places of worship of any one religion.

Nagpur (Maharashtra): Demonstrations were staged with 'ringing of bells' on behalf of VHP and 'Mutt, Mandir Adhigrahan Virodhi Samiti' of Bajarang Dal against the proposed Temple take-over Act.

The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) submitted a memorandum to the Maharashtra CM Shri. Vilasrao Deshmukh on May 25th, demanding the immediate withdrawal of anti-Hindu Acts.

Maharashtra Government is trying to take over all temples, mutts and religious institutions. 'Nationalization' of temples is an assault on Hindu Dharma. Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has started 'save temples' movement.

Shri. Vyankatesh Abdev, the regional chief of VHP said in a press conference that the proposed act for taking over temples will help the Government to divert funds collected in Hindu temples for benefit of Muslims and Christians.

A meeting was held of various organizations, sampradayas, parties and trustees at Sree Virupaksha temple to decide upon further plans to expand the agitation against Government's proposed 'Temple take-over' Act. Shri. Vivek Patil, MLA of PWP warned that such move of the Government will lead to outburst of Hindu feelings.

Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) will be staging agitation through out the State against the Government' ploy to take over management of all temples in the State. Hand-bills were distributed on the occasion. 'Nationalization of temples' is a step taken by the State Government against Hindus and all Hindus should revolt and compel the Govt. to withdraw the proposed Bill, it is said in the hand-bill.

A meeting of temple trustees will be held at Sree Virupaksha temple at Panvel on Saturday, 12 th May 2007, to take decisions regarding staging of agitation more extensively against the proposed temple take-over Act. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has said that it is not an attack only on temple trustees but it is a calamity on Hindu Dharma.

On the recommendations of the 15th Law Commission, the State Govt. brought in the proposed Act to take over management of temples. On 5th May, in 'Nal-stop' area, Kothrud, VHP will stage demonstrations by way of 'begging'.

Shri. Ashokji Singhal, the President of VHP looking after its international matters said that temples should have their independent management system to stop their deteriorating condition. He was addressing the meeting of all India Mutt-Mandir Committee.

Hindu Temples and Institutions in India are unfairly targeted by State Governments in India. Using Hindu Temple Endowment Act Looting, Selling, Encroachments is occurring all over Southern India.Particularly alarming is situation in Andhra Pradesh.
