Issue of ‘Vitthal Mandir Samiti’ selling cows to butchers

Pandharpur (Maharashtra): It was recently brought to light that Sree Vitthal –Rukmini Temple Committee had sold to butchers, cows from its ‘Gou-shala’ donated to the temple by devotees. Mr. Yashapal Wadkar, a ‘Vitthal-devotee’ has lodged a complaint with Mr. Dharmaraj Ombate, Police Inspector posted at Pandharpur city police station that the matter should be investigated and stringent action should be taken against the concerned. (Under the secular (unrighteous) governance of Congress, the Temple Committee has acted against Dharma by selling cows to butchers when the cows were donated to the temple by Hindus. Congratulations to Mr. Yashapal Wadkar for lodging a complaint with the police thus taking lawful action! Action should be taken wherever such anti-Dharma activities take place ! – Editor SP)

Mr. Wadkar has said in his complaint, ‘I am upset with the incident of sale of cows to butchers. The possibility of financial malpractice cannot be ruled out in this sale. There is a law against cow-slaughter in Maharashtra under which it is an offence to sell animals to butchers that are healthy and useful for farming. (When will an act be passed in this country, where Hindus are in majority, prohibiting sale of animals from species of cows even if they are weak and not useful for farming? – Editor SP) My religious sentiments are also hurt due to such sale of cows to butchers; the cows were in fact, received as offereing from Vitthal-devotees. All the misconduct should, therefore, be investigated in detail and stringent action should be taken against the guilty.”
