Pandhapur (Maharashtra): There needs to be proper representation of ‘Warakaris’ on the ‘Vitthal Mandir Committee’; but the Government has formed a Committee without adhering to the above requirement. Agitations were, therefore, staged on a number of occasions demanding dissolution of the Committee. The Government, however, did not take a note of ‘Warakaris’ demand. It has been now decided in the meeting held by WFDS to start agitation right from the commencement of ‘Dindi’ at Alandi.

The Mandir Committee should be dissolved before the Chief Minister comes for performing ‘Mahapuja’ during ‘Ashadhi’ pilgrimage on behalf of the Government, charging of money for taking ‘darshan’ should be permanently discontinued, ‘mukh-darshan’ of the Deities should be permitted as per the tradition and the new Committee should be formed with 50% representation to ‘Warakaris’ and 50 % to experts from management field. The meeting was attended by Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Jalgaonkar, Dada Maharaj Shiravalkar, Manohar Maharaj Awati, Vishnu Maharaj Kabir, Bhanudas Maharaj Dhavalikar, Sudhakar Maharaj Ingale, Prabhakar Maharaj Bodhale, Jayawant Maharaj Bodhale and Bhagavat Maharaj Chavare among others.
