Objective of this letter   

This letter aims to draw your kind and immediate attention to an extremely heart-rending and concerning issue.
 
As you might know that Pujya Asaram Bapu's Religious Ashram Desecrated by Gujrat Police. Saints and followers have been brutally attacked and subjected to vindictive and merciless disposition of the Police.
              
We earnestly appeal and solicit your kind support in condeming the atrocities meted out to the Hindus and the Hindu Ashram. A synopsis of the chain of events is given below for your kind information:

Purpose of Anshan and Dharna by Sadhaks (Followers) from 12 November 2009

Anshan and Dharna, was organized by the sadhaks,  to protest against the defamatory article and the derogatory cartoon defaming Pujya Sant Shree Asaramji Bapu published on 10 November 2009 in the edition of a Gujrat local daily. It is pertinent to note that section of media has on various occassions resorted to  misreporting and the articles  liberally use  denunciatory adjectives to mislead, inflame and instigate people against Pujya Bapuji and his Ashrams. Our religious sentiments have been deeply hurt. This Anshan and Dharna was organized by the sadhaks voluntarily to protest against the  false and defamatory content published in this daily. Ashram was not connected to this.

The sadhaks had adopted Gandhiji's Maun Dharna. The silent protestors were ceaselessly intimidated by the Police and were even arrested several times. Despite the tribulations, the sadhaks bore everything silently in the hope of getting justice. It is indeed disconcerting that none of the news channels or newspapers afforded coverage to the happenings of Anshan and Dharna. The prejudiced outlook of media is an impediment and the truth is being supressed from the masses. To support this anshan, a rally was organized on 26 November 2009.

Bapuji's followers organized many peaceful rallies across Gujarat to protest against the local newspaper baseless and defaming articles about Bapuji and showing our Hindu saints in bad light. The protest rally organized on November 26, 2009 at Gandhinagar, Gujarat was intruded by a group of anti-social elements and ignited violence by pelting stones on the police and injuring them. We are peace loving and responsible citizens who strongly adhere to Mahatma Gandhiji's principle of non-violence but media gave the verdict that it is the work of Ashram without any proper investigation. Brutal Attack on Sant Shri Asaramji Ashram in Ahmedabad on 27 November 2009

On November 27, 2009 past noon, a large convoy of police with nearly 150 policemen barged into the Ashram like terrorists. Without any proper investigation, every one in the Ashram including senior citizens and children, were brutally kicked, beaten up by sticks and rifle butts and were being dragged to the police vans . Police damaged property, desecrated temple and religious idols in Ashram. This ceaseless rampage of Police terrorists continued in a peaceful ashram of 'Self Realized' saint  for over 2 hours. The sanctity of the religious place, where millions of devotees come from all over the world to find peace and love, was completely destroyed.(ref: www.ashram.org)
 
We sincerely appeal to all organizations throughout the world to condemn this barbaric act and seek your support to speak against undemocratic actions of the Indian police that violated all international human rights.

Dharma Rakshti Rakshata

Dharma is generally defined as ‘righteousness’ or ‘duty’. Dharma is the principle of righteousness. It is the principle of holiness. It is also the principle of unity. Dharma is that which leads you to the path of perfection and glory. Dharma is that which helps you to have direct communion with the Lord. Dharma is the ascending stairway unto God and Self-realisation is the highest Dharma. Pujya Bapuji’s life exemplifies the Dharma. His divine presence bequeaths divinity and peace. He leaves no stone unturned to uplift the poor & the destitute with his various sewa activities all over the world. We can say Pujya bapuji is the Dharma himself.
 
Pujya Bapuji is at the forefront of protecting the Hindu Dharma and raising the voice against people/system who try to malign sadhus or followers of our religion. He participated in Dharna to protest the arrest of Jayendra Saraswati in framed murder case and condemned false allegations on Satya Sai Baba. His Holiness supports various seva activities done by other Hindu and Non-profit organizations and guide them as well. He is revered and respected by famous saints in India and abroad, and they honored him as a Hindu Maha Sabha president. 

Last few years, there are several instances when anti social elements have tried to denigrate Pujya Bapuji’s image with false news and reports. They are trying to disintegrate Indian Culture (Sanatana Dharma) by hitting its foundation i.e. saints and sages. In year 2004, Pujya Bapuji warned every body that there will be bigger conspiracy to wipe out Hindu dharma and appeal every body to get united in spite of our internal differences. The social leaders and public need to come forward against these atrocities. Sri Krushna says “One, who tolerate or accept iniquity and social evils, is doing the sin himself”.  So it is high time to raise the voice against injustice.
 
Also “Dharma Rakshti Rakshata” i.e. "If you protect Dharma, Dharma will in turn protect you".  We would no longer bear the blow on our faith and must save the existence of our religion, culture and society. We appeal to all organisations to come forward and show support to raise voice against the atrocities faced by our Hindu brothers and sisters. THIS COULD HAPPEN TO ANY ONE OF YOU AS WELL! SO LET US UNITE AND RISE ON THE OCCASION.
