Vishakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh): “One cannot be called a Hindu just because he applies ‘tilak’ on his forehead. Hindus must lead their life according to the 4 ‘purusharthas (pursuits of life)’ to learn Dharma in real sense of the term. When the real meaning of 4 ‘purusharthas’ is understood, one will see Hindus applying ‘tilak’ on their forehead on their own.” The above statement was made by Pujya Sree Swami Paripurnanandaji Saraswati, the Peethadhipati of Sree Peetham, Kakinada. He addressed the Hindu Dharmajagruti Sabha’ held on behalf of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) at ‘Shubhalakshmi Kalyan Mandap’ in Shubhalakshminagar.

Self- refinement is necessary to preserve culture ! – Acharya Sarvabhauma Prof. Vedula Subrahmanyam Shastri

Just saying preservation of culture is the need of the hour, is not going to really help in preservation of culture; but for that, one has to himself become cultured. One has to realise the value of culture. One has to think what kind of values he is teaching to his children. It is very unfortunate that we have understood the importance of doing ‘Namaskar’ i.e. folding hands by way of greeting instead of shaking hands when the epidemic of ‘swine flu’ struck us. HJS has been trying to create awareness among Hindus towards their culture and all of us must help its mission. The above views were expressed by Acharya Sarvabhauma Prof. Vedula Subrahmanyam Shastri on the occasion.
