Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The violent death of two saffron activists in a gap of 12 hours has shaken the Madhya Pradesh BJP. Tension was palpable in Bhopal after a temple priest was murdered in Bhanpur area, on the outskirts of the city on Wednesday night. Priest Deen Dayal Sharma, 35, also a Bajrang Dal activist and Bhopal Gau Raksha Samiti head, was stabbed to death inside the temple by 12 armed assailants.

He died on the spot. Two others including college student Manish Agarwal, who tried to save the priest, were seriously injured.

IG, Bhopal range, Shailendra Shrivastava, said, ‘‘Teams have been sent to search the assailants who have been identified. They will be arrested soon.’’ Bajrang Dal workers protested the priest’s killing even as police remained tightlipped about the motive for the murder.

Less than 12 hours after the priest’s death, another saffron activist was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his residence in Gwalior. Bunty Parmar, 32, was Gwalior district general secretary of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha, BJP’s youth wing.

He was shot through the head. On Thursday morning, Bunty’s body was found in his flat in Garden Homes Apartments.
