Bangladesh : Jihadi fanatics attack a Hindu’s last rites ceremony

Dhaka (Bangladesh) : Last rites were being performed on death of an old Hindu woman at Bhatirbhita, Kurigram village in Bangladesh on 6th February; but 8-10 fanatics went there and stopped the program as they wanted to grab Hindus’ land. Fanatics also beat up children and Hindu women attending the program; besides molesting many of them.

Detailed information is as given below

1. Fanatics attacked last rites program of mother of a local Hindu named Dilipchandra Sen.

2. The main accused and mastermind of the attack are absconding and police have not arrested anyone in this connection so far. Mohammad Ibrahim, Abdul Mallick, Abdul Karim, Maidul Islam, Maleka Begum, Hamida Begum, Alena Begum and Sharifa Begum are names of the accused. 3. The whole incident was published in local newspapers like ‘Dainik Jugantar’ and ‘Dainik Sangabad’ on 7th February.

4. On hearing about the incident, advocate Rabindra Ghosh, the President of ‘Bangladesh Minority Watch’, a pro-Hindu organizations contacted Mohammad Tobarak Ullah, the Superintendent of Police of Kurigram district but he said that he was not aware of any such incident advising advocate Ghosh to contact concerned police station. 5. Advocate Ghosh then contacted Abu Akkas Ahmad, in charge of Nageshwari police station. He said that it was not religious matter; it was a personal fight; police have registered a case and investigations were going on. (Considering the constant attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh, Hindus are no fools that they would not understand police posing the incident as a personal dispute; thus shielding fanatics. – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)

6. Bangladesh Minority Watch has demanded stringent action by Bangladesh Government against persons who attacked religious ceremony; beat up children and women and even molested women.
