Know more about the Miraj Riots

Although the Chief Minister Ashok Chavan has started the process of maintenance of law and order by calling an all-party meeting in the case of the Miraj riots, there is need to go to the root cause of the issue to prevent the occurance of such despicable incidents again. Muslims hate the subject of ‘The Slaying of Afzal Khan‘, they find it insulting and regrettable and the way they feel about the issue is the greatest National problem. The carelessness in finding a solution to this problem did not result only in riots in Miraj but its logical culmination began with the partition of this country. Hindus, however, learnt nothing even after partition.

Therefore, the riots take place and an atmosphere conducive to new partition is getting created. There is a solution to this problem. The prejudices which Muslims hold about Afzal Khan and which are detrimental to the interests of this country will have to be changed. Muslims should get used to having an understanding and a concept about Shivaji Maharaj that is in the interest of the country. In the measures that are undertaken to bring this about, teachers, principals, journalists, writers, philosophers and artists should actively participate. It would be futile to expect from the Education Minister sitting in Mumbai to do anything that would make people realise the significance of Afzal Khan’s killing and therefore, the teachers and principals, while teaching the history of Shivaji Maharaj, should explain in detail the importance of Afzal Khan being killed. They must do it on their own.

Killing of Afzal Khan is significant from the military, political and psychological points of view. The killing of Afzal Khan is an example of implementation of the ‘Bhagavatgeeta‘ in leading life by a Marathi person in the 17th century. Shivaji has taught an important lesson, in the jungles of Javali, when fighting a war, how to take a foe to such a suitable place wherein victory is certain.

One knows the political expertise required to take the foe at a place of one’s choice when one sings the ballad of Pratapgad. One has to show bravery after one reaches the expected place. How Shivaji was the strong pillar of resolve is indicated by the manner in which he slayed the Sardar of Vijapur. When ‘Rama-rajya‘ is to be established, ‘Ravan‘ needs to be destroyed. Similarly, if Hindvi Swaraj is to be established, every Afzal Khan has to be destroyed.

Who is this Afzal Khan? He had insulted Shahaji Raje, he had treacherously killed Shivaji’s elder brother Sambhaji. He came to Pratapgad with an intention to kill Shivaji. Shivaji or Afzal, one of them was bound to die in that meeting. We are living in independent India because Afzal Khan died at the hands of Shivaji; but had it happened the other way around, then we would have been circumcised and today the impoverished life led by converted Hindus in Pakistan, would have been our fate as well. If we do not want to face such things in the future then the ones who want to kill us, should be killed with skill and valour. The five battles between India and Pakistan were fought on our soil. This shows that our rulers have learnt nothing from Shivaji.
