Agitators demand resignation of HM for failure to curb idol desecration incidents

Panaji (Goa): “Hindus have lost their patience now. It is essential that the administration shed its lethargy, take a serious view of idol desecration incidents in the Goa state and initiate measures to stop their recurrence. Also, a delegation demanded resignation of Home Minister Shri. Ravi Naik, on behalf of the agitators, for not being able to nab the culprits in any of the idol desecration incidents. This demand was made to the Chief Minister of Goa, Shri. Digambar Kamat.

The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) and other associated organizations had jointly organized a protest rally on the Legislative Assembly, which is on for the winter session, against the inefficiency of the government and to pressurize the same to initiate measures to curb idol desecration incidents in the State. At this time, the rally was restrained and a delegation met CM Shri. Digambar Kamat on behalf of the agitators. 1000 devout Hindus participated in this protest march.

The rally commenced after paying obeisance to the Lord at Sree Maruti Temple at the Kadamba Bus Stand at Panaji. At this time, Capt. (Retd.) Dattaram Sawant of the Divya Jagruti Trust broke a coconut to mark the beginning of the rally. First, Shri. Sadashiv Dhond of the Dharmashakti Sena clarified the objective of the rally. At this time, HJS’ Shri. Jayesh Thali also addressed those present at the venue. Shri. Thali said that, ‘Had the police force roped in for the rally been utilized for investigating into the idol desecration cases, the culprits would have been nabbed by now!’ Those present shouted slogans and expressed their anguish against the inefficiency of the police and the administration.

The CM accepted the memorandum on behalf of the agitators and said that a decision would be taken on the demands after contemplation. The rally comprised of members of the Padmanabh Sect, Sree Sect, Divya Jagruti Trust, Aadinath Sect, Sanatan Sanstha, Dharmashakti Sena, Iskcon, Amma Bhagwaan, Jeevan Vidya Mission, Ranaragini Group and the Shivsena.

Goa Idol damage issue: HJS' huge protest rally on Assembly on July 29

Panaji (Goa): Incidents of idol desecration in Goa are on a constant rise as the government has miserably failed to curb the same. The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has commenced a state-wide agitation to compel the government to take immediate measures to curb the deplorable series of desecration of idols of Hindu deities. As a part of this agitation, a huge protest rally will be staged on the Legislative Assembly at Porvorim on July 29. The protest rally will start from Sree Maruti Temple situated at the KTC Bus stand, Panaji at 4.30 pm. This information was given buy Shri. Jayesh Thali, Goa state Sanghatak, of HJS in a press conference held here on 25th July 2009.

The said incidents of idol desecration are on the rise since 2004 with their toll rising to 28 as of date. There has been constant opposition to the same through ‘Road block’ agitation, so also the historic ‘Goa bandh’ that was observed on 20th October 2008 and the ‘Devasthan Saurakshan Mahasammelan’ held on the Campal ground on January 10 this year. The Home department had set up a Special Investigation Team to investigate into idol desecration incidents; however this team was allotted several other responsibilities to fulfil apart from its primary role.

P.P. Brameshanand Swami Maharaj of Tapobhumi, Kundaim and Jagatguru Narendracharyaji Maharaj has showered blessings for this activity. Also Organisations like Padmanab Sampradaya, Divya Jagruti Trust, Adinath Sampradaya, Art of Living, Mandir Suraksha Samiti, Sanatan Sanstha, Dharma Shakti Sena, Ranaragini group, Hare Rama Hare Krishna sect, Amma Bhagvan sect has supported this Morcha. Also Shiv Sena, Smt. Shashikalatai Kakodkar, Ex.-CM of Goa and Adv. Satish Sonak also has extended support for the same. We appeal to all Hindus to participate in this Morcha by setting aside their differences.

The chief suspect, Kavesh Gosavi, booked in this case has been put through brain mapping and polygram tests; however the test reports are still awaited. Narco tests have not been performed on the suspect. All these facts prove that the Home department is not serious about this grave issue. Likewise, lethargic attitude of the bureaucrats and inefficiency of the State defence machinery add to the misery. Incidents such as disappearance of the truck carrying Sree Ganesh idols made of plaster of paris seized at Pernem check post, failure to book culprits of the sword seizure case in Margao, empty assurances of the Goa Education Board to delete the controversial lessons in the Std. VII History textbook of the N.C.E.R.T., inaction to prevent insult to the National Flag and failure to book those responsible for the unlawful closure of schools on 29th August 2009 in connection with the Orissa incident vouch for the same.

The said protest rally has been organised to protest against idol desecration incidents and government inaction. HJS appeals to all Hindus to participate in this protest rally and fulfill their duty towards Hindu Dharma. Shri. Shivprasad Joshi, Goa state President of Hindu Mahasabha; Shri. Namdev Naik, Vice President of Goa state, Shivsena; Cap. (ret.) Dattaram Sawant of Divya Jagruti trust; Shri. Sadashiv Dhond of Dharma Shakti Sena; Shri. Anand Faldesai, President of Quepem taluka, Mandir Suraksha samiti and Mrs. Meena Kamat of Sanatan Sanstha were present at the press conference.

Its really shocking for me when I came to know that UPA Government changed emblem Of Kendriya Vidhyala sangathan(KVS) from Lotus & shining Sun 2 Cross and Crescent and all of this has been done on the name of ( so called) much wider and broader reflection of national ethos.
KVS, said “in order to give a broader reflection of national ethos and ought to be inclusive of challenges, opportunities, rationalistic, scientific and global thinking, advances in science & technology & social changes taking place in the society the new emblem has been created.
