HJS protest in Bhagyanagar (Andhra Pradesh) for Savarkar Statue in France

Hindu Janajagruti Samiti had organized a protest on 14th July 2009, at Veer Savarkar Statue, Veer Savarkar Marg, Kacheguda, Bhagyanagar (Hyderabad) to speed up the process of granting permission by Govt. of India for constructing a memorial of Swatantryaveer Sawarkar at Marseilles, France. The protest was attended by more than 150 proud Hindus, young and old everybody participated in the campaign.

The Only BJP MLA and also a staunch Hindutvavadi Shri. Kishan Reddy was the chief guest at the protest.  Leaders and activists of BJP, ABVP, RSS, VHP, Bajrang dal, Hindu Mahasabha, Savarkar Samiti, Swadeshi Jagran Manch, Om Nava Yuva Sena and Sanatan Sanstha participated in the protest.

Sou. Vidula Gadgil, Grand daughter of Veer Savarkar and her family members also participated in the protest.

Garlanding of Savarkar Statue by BJP LA Kishan Reddy

The protest started with slogans of Veer Savarkar and brief speeches by prominent leaders. Shri. Kishan Reddy, BJP MLA, garlanded the Savarkar statue and unfurled the ''Veer Savarkar Circle'' nameplate made by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti below the statue. The Savarkar Statue in Bhagyanagar is the first statue of Veer Savarkar in India. It is in the most busiest part of the city.

While addressing the protestors and media persons Shri. Kishan Reddy said that the President of India should immediately send a delegation to France and make sure all the administrative procedures are fulfilled and A statue is being built within the stipulated time. Incase the Congress Govt. fails in doing so he said that Hindu Janajagruti Samiti will build the savarkar statue in France by collecting donation from Bhagyanagar. He asked the BJP workers also to participate in the signature campaign started by HJS. He himself would write a letter to the president on this matter. Also he said that Nameplates of Veer savarkar Marg would be put up within a month on the busy Veer Savarkar Marg which is now referred to as Station road by public.

Later while addressing the gathering Shri. Vinayak Shanbhag of Hindu Janajagrui Samiti said that Swatantryaveer Sawarkar, a great freedom fighter of India about whom it is said that in the history of freedom fight of this country, nobody has gone through so much of hardships like Savarkar. Savarkar’s philosophy holds good even today. Out of the many brave deeds of Savarkar, the one that had become legendary was his jump into the ocean from a sailing ship and swimming his way to Marseilles port, France. On 8th July 2010, this incident will complete its 100 years.

The French Govt. has  agreed to construct a memorial of Sawarkar thereby giving due respect to this great revolutionary, but the govt. of India is delaying this work since 11 long years. If this memorial is not constructed the world will never know about a great historical event and about this great patriot of India who has been an inspiration to many people throughout the world. The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti has demanded that the President of India should take immediate action in this issue. A Signature campaign in this regard has also been started nationwide.

1. Many proud Hindus asked the samiti members to start a online signature campaign in this regard.
2. HJS Website's active visitors, who are also HJS activists now in Bhagyanagar Shri. Gangadhar Goud, Shri. Rajeshwar Konety, Shri. Kumaraswamy Ullaganti, Shri. Ratnesh Vajpayee, Shri. Vasu also participated actively in the protest. Shri. Gangadhar Goud also gave a brief speech about Savarkar on this occassion.
3. Shri. Padmakar Dikshit of RSS, Vedamurti Shri. Sudhakar Naik, Savarkar Follower Shri. Narahari Dev, Shri Vilasrao Penurkar of Savarkar Samiti also participated in the protest.
4. The protestors were holding placards, Flex banners about Savarkar were also put on this occassion.
5. Though there was cloudy atmosphere and raindrops before the protest, the rain never came during the program.
6. More than 225 Hindus participated in the signature campaign
7. Major Andhra Dailies Eenadu, Saakshi, Andhrabhumi and Surya covered the protest.
8. Proprietor of Hotel Sweekar put up a tent for the protest infront of his hotel near the Veer Savarkar Chowk.
9. Thousands of passer-bys were curiosly inquiring about the protest.
