Nashik (Maharashtra): Most of our crematoriums are either at the banks of river or sea. Similarly, things immersed in water after performance of religious rites result in polluting water. (Several factories that are leaving effluents into the sea and rivers are causing real pollution as it adversely affects sea or water beings. Compared to such pollution, the pollution caused due to performance of religious rites and rituals is negligible. But the anti-Hindu Yashawantrao Chavan Open University (YCOU) is holding religious rites responsible for pollution! – Editor)

Varanasi, Nashik, Pandharpur are the pilgrimage places visited by thousands of devotees on specific days. These pilgrims have bath in the river and throw flowers, leaves, remnant food and plastic bags etc. in the river water. All morning chores are also done at the bank of the rivers. Therefore, such religious ceremonies cause pollution in water. The above findings have been published by YCOU in its book Environment and Society’. (Throwing plastic bags, remnant food, morning chores at the banks are not a part of Hindu religious ceremonies. For this, all political rulers are responsible. Owing to their indifference, people are not disciplined. Therefore, the Government is only responsible for pollution! – Editor)
