Ban GGDM - demand made in Legislative Assembly
Mumbai: BJP group leader, Shri. Eknath Khadase made a strong demand in the ongoing session of Legislative Assembly (LA) to impose a ban on the Marathi film ‘Gallit Gondhal Dillit Mujara (GGDM)’ as Hindu deities have been ridiculed in this film resulting in hurting religious sentiments of Hindus. Such things are happening too often in films and are very wrong; therefore, the chairman of the LA should personally look into the matter and try to bring a ban on the film. (Congratulations to Shri. Eknath Khadase for making a demand to ban a film involved in denigrating deities! – Editor SP) All transaction should be kept aside in LA as per the Rule 97 and discussions should be held in the Assembly, demanded Shri. Khadase. Vice Chairman Pramod Shende, however, denied permission on the ground that the topic did not fit into the regulations of adjournment of the House.
Shri. Khadase raised even the issue regarding anti-History text books of NCERT and said that the text books set by NCERT are always controversial. How can good moral values be instilled in children with such wrong history? Such controversial wrong history should be changed. Although chief minister Ashok Chavan, industry minister Narayan Rane, health minister Dr. Rajendra Shingane, LA affairs minister Harshavardhan Patil etc. were present in the House, none of them made any comment on these issues. (Hindus must take such ministers to task for their keeping mum on the above two issues, when they come to you for your votes! – Editor SP)

Panaji (Goa): Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has demanded to stop the screening of marathi movie ‘Gallit Gondhal Dillit Mujara (GGDM)’ presented by ZEE Talkies, produced by Pentagon Productions and directed by Shri. Nagesh Bhosale for making disgraceful mockery of Lord Vitthal and thus hurting the sentiments of Hindus. Screening of this movie is going on in Inox theatre in Panaji. HJS has demanded to file a criminal case against the producer, director and actors of the said film by a memorandum submitted to the panaji police station today.
This memorandum was submitted by Shri. Raj Borkar, Shri. Shushant Dalvi of HJS and Shri. ShriKrushna Veluskar, Head of Panaji sakha of Shivsena, shri. Ravindra Naik and shri. Nitesh Amonkar of Shivsena. This memorandum says that in this film, a person called Narayan Wagh makes a vow to Lord Vitthal that he would offer a ‘Sonya chi topi’ (cap made of gold) at the Lord’s feet if he won the election. At this time, the idol of Lord Pandurang is shown smiling in a very strange manner. When this Narayan wins election, he visits Vitthal temple to keep his vow. Lord Vitthal manifests and Narayan puts a cap worn by a boy on the Lord’s head. He tells the Lord that the name of the boy was Sonya and the cap offered to the Lord was ‘Sonya chi’ (made up of gold). Lord Vitthal looks on very much baffled. This is a disgraceful mockery of Lord Vitthal.
There are many objectionable statements made by actor Makarand Anaspure like “Tujhya kanakhali Ganapati Kadhin”, “Tujhya kanakhali Ashtavinayak Kadhin”, “Halli che politicians Maharajana vichaarunacha Bayakaa Thevatat”, “Ajun tari sadhu-santanchi haat-paay todaayachi vel aaleli naahi”, “Deva suddhaa dakshinaa denaaryanchaa cha asato’, in the said movie.
HJS resolves to continue agitation
Mumbai: In a Marathi film titled ‘Gallit Godhal Dillit Mujara (GGDM)’, there is denigration of Hindu deity Lord Vitthal who is worshipped by all Hindus and Warakari Sect. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS), Warakari Sect and devout Hindus staged demonstrations against this film all over Maharashtra. Today, Sadik Chitalekar and Amit Phalake of ‘Zee Talkies’, informed Shri. Shivaji Vatkar, the district coordinator of HJS for Mumbai, Thane and Raigad districts, that a portion of this film where there is denigration of Lord Vitthal has since been excised. (Excluding some portion of mockery is like doing something for temporary satisfaction of the opponent. – Editor SP) Shri. Ramesh Shinde, the spokesperson of HJS for Maharashtra announced that HJS is not happy with excision of only some objectionable part but the objectionable part should be fully removed and till then, the agitation will continue.
Devout Hindus staged agitations against the film in Mumbai, Panvel, Pune, Satara, Kolhapur, Solapur and Jalgaon etc. The screening of the film was therefore, stopped at some places whereas some theatre owners excised the objectionable portion on their own. Yesterday, HJS carried out agitations outside ‘Jai Ganesh’ theatre at Mulund, Mumbai. Today, demonstrations were held outside Plaza theatre in Dadar. Shri. Chandorkar, the Manager of Plaza theatre informed HJS members that some portion of denigration was removed from this film. The members had to, therefore, watch the film to confirm. Later, Sadik Chitalekar and Amit Phalake of ‘ZEE Talkies’ sent a letter to Shri. Shivaji Vatkar about exclusion of the objectionable part from the film. It has also been mentioned in the letter that due to some technical problems, other sentences involving mockery could not be removed. (In the age of highly developed technology, the reason given by S/Shri.Chitalekar and Phalake does not seem convincing. – Editor SP)
HJS demands excision of objectionable dialogues from GGDM
Mumbai: The objectionable scene showing Lord Vitthal being capped in a Marathi film ‘Gallit Gondhal Dillit Mujara (GGDM)’ has been excised owing to agitations staged by Hindu Janajgruti Samiti (HJS) along with Warakari Sect. A letter was sent by Zee Talkies and Pentagon Productions to the effect that they were rendering apology to HJS and treating the matter as closed. (Zee Talkies [ZT] first hurt religious sentiments of Hindus. When Hindus raised objection, ZT carried out few changes and declared that they are now closing the chapter. We condemn ZT for such behavior! – Editor SP) Today, HJS welcomed the move of ZT to excise the scenes making mockery of Lord Vitthal, with a request to even remove the objectionable dialogues. HJS has decided to carry on the agitation till such dialogues are completely taken out from the film.
A State-wide agitation has been undertaken by HJS with the help of Warakari Sect against the Marathi film GGDM. The agitation scared the producers of the film and Sadik Chitalekar and Amit Phalake of ZT wrote a letter to Shri. Shivaji Vatkar, the district coordinator of HJS for Mumbai, Thane and Raigad districts, informing him about excision of objectionable part from the film. Shri. Phalake informed Shri. Vatkar, “Digital copies are used for screening of the film in Mumbai and it is very costly to excise portion of dialogues from the film;” (Money is more important than denigration of deities for the Hindus for whom everything is a business. Such Hindus are the real foes of Hindu Dharma. Would Shri. Phalake think twice about money if his parents were insulted? – Editor SP) This film will be shown in theatres in Mumbai for a short time now.” (Why should Hindus tolerate denigration of their deities even for a second? Will Shri. Phalake give a reply to Muslims or Christians in such manner? – Editor SP)
Shri. Phalake also requested Shri. Vatkar to stop the agitation; but Shri. Vatkar informed him that HJS was firm on its decision.

Film producers unaware of ZEE Talkie’s decision!
In a circular published by ‘ZEE Talkies’ in connection with mockery in the film, it is mentioned that they render apology to all of them whose religious sentiments have been hurt due to mockery shown in the film GGDM and The objectionable portion has since been excluded from the film. (Why ‘ifs and buts’ even while rendering apology? This clearly shows that ‘ZEE Talkies’ does not really agree that they made a mistake? – Editor) Shri. Amit Phalake of ‘ZEE Talkies’ was contacted in this connection when he informed that it would, for technical reasons, take a day or two to exclude the objectionable part from the film. Later, Shri. Lakshmikant Khanbia, the director of ‘Pentagon Productions’ was contacted but he was not aware of exclusion of objectionable part from the film. Police take cognizance of representation submitted by Warakari Sampradaya and HJS
Panvel (Maharashtra): There is denigration of Lord Vitthal in Marathi film ‘Gallit Gondhal Dillit Mujara’. (Hindu deities are always denigrated in films and plays because Hindus are over tolerant.
