Success of Hindus : OLX India removes advertisement insulting Hindu Sages

Let us pay gratitude at the holy feet of the Deity Krushna for this success !

Update

Alert Hindus notified Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS), a noted Hindu organization in India, about insult of Hindu Sages and Hinduism. Accordingly, volunteers of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti called and also sent an email to OLX India asking them to remove the insulting advertisement from all electronic media as well as from their YouTube page. OLX India said they will get back to HJS in 48 hours; however there was no response from them. (The letter explaining the denigration is published below.)

Then HJS started protest campaign against OLX India on January 10, 2016. HJS requested all the readers to protest lawfully and peacefully to stop this insult of Hindu Sages. As a result, OLX India rendered an apology and they have removed the insulting advertisement from their Facebook page.

Please see below the letter sent by HJS to OLX India :

To,

OLX India,

Subject: Appeal to remove advertisement insulting Hindu Sages

Devout Hindus contacted Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) about an advertisement which is insulting Hindu Sages on your Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/olxindia/videos/vb.114961351887180/934395749943732/?type=2&theater and https://www.facebook.com/olxindia/photos/a.159938414056140.38657.114961351887180/938822302834410/?type=3&theater. Devout Hindus are shocked and pained to see such an advertisement where a person in the guise of a Hindu Sage is used to promote your products. In this advertisement the Sage is promoting the sale of products in a very hurting manner and with weird dialogues and disgusting gestures.

Please note that using images of Sages for advertising in this manner is an insult of Sages and the Hindu religion. In Hinduism, Sages are authorities in spiritual knowledge and play a major role in spreading Spirituality. Using images of Sages for an advertisement is very offensive to Hindus. This leads to insulting and tarnishing the noble image of Sages and Hinduism. It also hurts the religious sentiments of Hindus.

This advertisement may have been prepared unknowingly; however, hurting religious feelings leads to an offence as per the Indian Penal Code section 295A.

We urge you to consider the above points and remove this advertisement and inform your advertising firm not to create such advertisements in the future which denigrate Hindu Sages, Hindu Deities and Hinduism.

We stress that our aim in bringing up these points is to educate and ensure that Hindu Sages and Hinduism get accurately represented in society. Hinduism has been misrepresented at many levels. You can take one step towards ensuring that Hinduism does not get disgraced, by discontinuing this advertisement.

Hindu Janajagruti Samiti is a registered NGO engaged in social, religious and National welfare work. The Samiti is active throughout the world, educating people about Dharma in scientific way, campaigning against malpractices that masquerade as religious practices while also solving issues of national, social and religious importance.
