Protest against anti-Hindu painter Hussain
Pune (Maharashtra): Anti-Hindu painter M F Hussain has drawn indecent pictures of many Hindu deities including Lord Hanuman. Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) held a signature drive in many Hanuman temples on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti to which thousands of Hanuman devotees responded positively. They expressed their anger on the offensive paintings drawn by Husain.
Members of HJS distributed pamphlets among Hanuman devotees and made them aware about the issue. The drive was undertaken at various temples in Pune like Shri Jungalee Maharaj Mandir, Shri. Bhikardas Maruti Mandir besides temples at Sahakarnagar, Dhanakwadi, Kothrud, Rajgurunagar, Ghodegaon, Junner, Talegaon, Chinchwad Gaon, Pimpri Gaon Sangavi, Bhosari etc.
Highlights
- Shri. Vijay Bhalerao, one of the viewers from Rajgurunagar said that he was going to lodge a complaint with the police against Husain as his religious sentiments were hurt after seeing the pictures.
- Many devout Hindus who have joined ‘Dharma-shikshan’ classes recently, actively participated in HJS drive
- Pamphlets published by HJS, were distributed by ‘jidnyasus’ in their residential area due to which many Hanuman devotees were contacting HJS members to put their signatures.
