Declare cow ‘mother of the nation’: Shiv Sena MP

NEW DELHI : Shiv Sena MP Chandrakant Khaire demanded in Lok Sabha on Tuesday that cow should be declared as the ‘mother of the nation’, saying the benefits one got from its milk, urine and dung were priceless.

Speaking during zero hour, the Aurangabad MP said, “The government should take a decision on declaring cow as ‘rashtra mata’. We all respect the cow. Nobody’s life is complete without cow’s milk. Subsequently, its urine and dung are useful in treatment of cancer and other diseases.

He added, “We have national flag, national anthem, father of the nation, national animal, national bird. Why don’t we declare cow as mother of the nation,” he added.

On Monday, BJP’s Adityanath had said the teachings of the Gita had become all the more relevant at a time when the world was concerned over ‘jihadi’ terrorism. He had demanded declaring Gita as the ‘national book’.
