Don’t allow release of film Bajirao Mastani : Demand by descendants of Bajirao and Mastani

Remove disgraceful songs from the movie and release only after showing it to us ! – Demand by descendants of Bajirao and Mastani

Mumbai : Before release of the film ‘Bajirao- Mastani’, special show may be arranged for us. We would ensure that the film did not distort images people have of Bajirao Peshwa, Mastani Baisaheb and Kashibai. Disgraceful songs like ‘Pinga’ and a song picturized on Bajirao should be removed from the film. The above demand was made by descendants of Bajirao Peshwa and Mastani during press conference held on 4th December at Mumbai Press Club. The press conference was attended by Awais Bahadur, Nawab Saheb, Udaysingh peshave (Bajirao’s descendant) Shrimant Sardar Satyasheelraje Dabhade (descendant of Umabai saheb Dabhade) so also Sou. Shaheen Bahadur (Mastani’s descendant), Zulfikar Bahadur Nawab Saheb (Mastani’s descendant). They said that women during Peshwa’s regime never wore such kind of clothes. Bajirao has been shown as the 5th Peshwa which is also wrong. A meeting has been shown between Kashibai and Mastani which is not based on facts.

In a press release issued by these descendants, it has been stated that truth is distorted in the name of cinematic liberty. Such distortion is illogical and is wrong from historical point of view. Bajirao is a great and brave character from history who didn’t lose a single battle but from the advertisement of this film, it seems to be a film that highlights only the relation between Bajirao and Mastani Baisaheb, which is only a small part of their life. No research seems to be carried out before making the film. In ‘Pinga’ song, Kashibai and Mastani have been shown dancing together which is wrong depiction of history and the director has made no efforts to show true facts. Awais Bahadur Nawab, a descendant of Mastani has been very much disturbed about mishandling of a very sensitive subject. The descendants want the film to be authentic.

Case filed in Madhya Pradesh High Court against the film !

Has Sanjay Leela Bhansali guts to make films on followers of other religions ? Hindus are too tolerant therefore, everyone desecrates Hindus’ great valiant heroes. Hindus need to unite and raise their voice, in lawful manner, against such distortion.

Indore (Madhya Pradesh) : Descendants of Peshwa have been enraged to see that an unbeatable warrior like Bajirao Peshave has been shown as dancing on a song ‘Malhari’ in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film ‘Bajirao- Mastani’ which has created controversy even before its release. There is distortion of history of Peshave; therefore, the said film should not be released is the demand made by descendants of Bajirao Peshave and Mastani by filing a petition with MP High Court.  (Congratulations to alert descendants of Bajirao Peshave and Mastani to stop distortion of history ! – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat) ‘Pinga’ song from controversial film ‘Bajirao- Mastani’ has already hurt sentiments of people.

1. Eighth generation of Bajirao- Mastani is staying in Indore. Four of them have filed a petition in Court against Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

2. Out of them, Awais Bahadur has expressed strong displeasure over the trailer of this film as also songs.

3. Bhansali has distorted historical truth only with the intention of filling own pockets and has maligned our images.

4. Mastani and Bajirao Peshave’s wife Kashibai (enacted by Priyanka Chopra) have never danced together; still, Bhansali has picturized a song ‘Pinga’ on them (Mastani- Deepika Padukone) in this film. This song was released in last month which generated strong reactions all over Maharashtra.

5. Bhansali should have studied history of Peshwas, in detail, before making film on a great warrior like Bajirao; he should have learnt culture and ‘sanskar’ prevalent during that period; but he has used history of Peshaves only with an eye on commercial viability.

6. They have therefore, demanded to bring stay on release of the film ‘Bajirao Mastani’.

7. Does Bhansali have right to distort history of Peshwas and malign their images through changing their culture and image in the name of freedom of expression, asked descendants of Peshwas, history researchers and people.
