Hindus must express gratitude at the feet of God for this success

Ratnagiri: ‘Indian Premier League (IPL)’ will be holding cricket matches in the month of May which are going to be live telecast on ‘Set Max’ entertainment channel. There was an advertisement denigrating Hindu deities shown on this channel in this regard. Shri. Sanjay Joshi, a member of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) called up the channel’s office and Shri. Shivaji Vatkar, district-coordinator of HJS for Mumbai, Thane and Raigad wrote a letter to protest against the advertisement following which, the telecast of the advertisement was withdrawn.

In the issue of ‘Dainik Sanatan Prabhat (DSP)’ dated 17th March, news was published with the heading ‘IPL and Set Max make mockery of Hindu deities’. Thereafter, Shri. Sanjay Joshi called up an official of ‘Set Max’ channel at his office. The conversation that took place between the two is given below.

Shri. Joshi: Namaskar! An advertisement is being shown on your channel about IPL tournaments. In this advertisement, Andrew Symonds, an Australian cricketer has been shown sitting in a temple in a house and a woman has been showing as performing his ‘puja’. It is insulting to show a human sitting in temple and is being worshipped. This has hurt our religious sentiments. Therefore, the telecast of this advertisement needs to be stopped immediately.

Officer: It was not our intention to hurt anyone’s religious sentiments. (It’s a typical answer of an officer of every TV channel – Editor).

Shri. Joshi: If you do not stop showing this advertisement, we will appeal to the cable operators to boycott ‘Set Max’ channel and nobody would see your channel.

Officer: Sir, please do not do this, we shall stop the advertisement.

Shri. Joshi: We will stage demonstrations near your office if the advertisement is shown.

Officer: No need for the same, we shall immediately stop showing this advertisement.

The channel immediately stopped showing the advertisement

Anti-Hindu IPL and ‘Set Max’ hurt religious sentiments of Hindus

March 12, 2009

All Hindus should protest against anti-Hindu advertisement of IPL on Set MAX channel. Hindus should force IPL & Set MAX to change the anti-Hindu content of advertisement and they should apologise Hindus for hurting sentiments of Hindus. This advertisement even hurts sentiments of other religions, viz Muslim & Christian.

The television channel ‘Set Max’ has been showing an advertisement for Indian Premier League (A Cricket League) which is hurting Hindu sentiments. The  advertisement is shown more than 25 to 30 times a day and it shows that a lady is worshipping an idol of Symonds (an Australian cricket player), who is shown in place of an Hindu idol.
