Bhagyanagar (AP): The English daily Deccan Chronicle from Andhra Pradesh in its issue dated 8 th March 2009 published a distorted picture of Sri Durgadevi painted by anti-Hindu painter M.F.Hussain, falling on World Woman’s Day. Reacting to this HJS called all Hindus to boycott such an anti-Hindu daily. In response to this representatives of many pro-Hindu organizations today went to the office of ‘Deccan Chronicle ‘. However the chief executive officer Venkatraman Reddy manhandled them beat them up and drove them out without listening to a word. During this he even manhandled a woman who was video recording the event. ( Through this ‘Deccan Chronicle’ has shown its goondaism . Can this news paper with such hooligan staff be ever able to procure justice for the society ? Will the womens’ organizations and commissions now protest against the official of ‘Deccan Chronicle’ who manhandled the woman? - Editor )
Two days back HJS’s Coordinator for Mumbai, Raigad and Thane districts Shri. Shivaji Vatlkar had phoned the office of Deccan Chronicle for demanding the answer and asking for the apology but was answered arrogantly. ( Recently Deccan Chronicle had publicly apologized to Muslims for hurting their religious sentiments. But it is not feeing so in case of Hindus in spite of printing distorted picture of Durgadevi. This is Hindus are not united. Hindus, to break this arrogance of anti-Hindus get united now only - Editor) Similarly several proud Hindus from our country and abroad have sent letters of protest to this anti-Hindu Daily on the HJS’s website.
The news of Deccan Chronicle printing distorted picture of Durgadevi painted by M.F.Hussain was published by ‘Daily Sanatan Prabhat’ and was also put on HJS’s website. Shri. Vatkar then immediately telephoned the editor of Deccan Chronicle Ms Jayanti to enquire about the matter but since she was not available he had a discussion with Shri. Natarajan from the editorial department. As per his advice Shri. Vatkar then sent protest letter to the daily and asked for its apology to all Hindus. Since there was no response from the daily in this regard, a repeat telephonic call was done. One of the staff from the editorial department then asked to send the matter for apology letter. Shri Vatkar then sent the matter and re enquired on the telephone when Shri Natarajan from the editorial department used very rude language.and said,’ We do not want to answer anybody, will not henceforth receive any phone calls from you and we are not bound to tender an apology.’ and then he kept the receiver down.
In connection with this incidence the agitation is being lodged against Deccan Chronicle by HJS in Bhagyanagar in the form of signatures from the proud Hindus and submitting a resolution to the editor. HJS has called Hindus to boycott such anti Hindu dailies. In response to this representatives of many pro-Hindu organizations toady went to the office of ‘Deccan chronicle. However the chief executive officer manhandled them beat them up and drove them out without listening to a word. During this he even manhandled a woman delegate who was video recording the event. After this the officials called police and invited two representatives of the delegation for discussion at the office but the delegation members decided that none of them would enter the office and demanded that the Daily should first apologise in tomorrow’s issue. When police conveyed the demand of the delegation to the officials, they agreed to tender apology in tomorrow’s issue.

It is disheartening to see that in your issue dated 08-03-2009 at there is a picture titled 'Essence of Indian Womanhood is Shakti'. In it, there is picture of a woman shown in a pant and 'T' Shirt with a black aura around her head on a tiger. The woman depicted in the picture is Goddess Durga wearing modern clothes. The Hindu Goddess whom we rever the most, being depicted in such a disgraceful manner, has really hurt my sentiments and the sentiments of Hindus all around the world. Hindu Goddesses wear saree and there is so much power in them, that the aura around the head is always yellow (depicting chaitanya eminating from them). What does Hussain mean by depicting Durga Devi in such a denigrating manner? Is it just to add to his list of anti-Hindu acts?
Hussain has from time to time shown his hatred toward Hindu deities and Hindus by his drawings which either depict Hindu Gods or Goddesses in the nude or by depicting Hindu National Heroes in a disgraceful manner. Still the media and the other men at the top, project him as a great artist and bestow him with awards and accolades in the name of ‘freedom of expression’. If this is ‘freedom of expression’, or in other words ‘modern art’, why doesn’t Hussain draw Prophet Mohammed or any of his family members in such a disgraceful manner? Or for that matter, why doesn’t he draw Jesus or other Christian Saints in this way? Why only Hindus are always being targetted?
On the whole it is shameful and ridiculous that Deccan Chronicle has printed such a picture. A newspaper is a media which should stand for the Truth always and not propogate derogatory matter in any way. I am sure that Deccan Chronicle would not have dared to print such denigratory matter or pictures pertaining to other religions. ‘WHY ONLY HINDU DEITIES ARE DENIGRATED,’ IS THE BIG QUESTION?
Mocking at Gods and Goddesses is a big sin and unless you repent and apologise, you will have to bear the brunt. I sincerely request you to make a public apology and make sure that this mockery of Hindu deities is not repeated. This is not a letter from a single Hindu, but it voices the sentiments and feelings of millions of Hindus worldwide. Do the needful at the earliest.

Mumbai: Deccan Chronicle unconditionally apologises for inadvertently hurting the sentiments of some of our readers who have pointed out that Rahman is another name for the Almighty and as such our headline was inappropriate. They do understand what the headline constituted, but point out that nevertheless it should not have been used.
Deccan Chronicle never has and never will attempt to hurt the sentiments of any caste, religion or community and we do regret the hurt caused to any of our readers however inadvertent it may have been.

Just for sale of paper, would do you portray your dear ones in similar light? Think personally some sense has to be put in the heads of people encouraging this denigration to happen in print, that too on woman's day. Stop such denigrations with immediate effect, lots of your readers are enraged and are thinking of switching over to some other paper with people not mocking Hindu dieties, that too in Bharat . Speaks volumes of the sensivity to delicate issues by your paper.

Where is the Hindu painter who paints the figures from Quran in a sick way, like MF Hussein? Don't Hindus know by now that Muslims only understand one language: that of strength? And that a passive and peaceful attitude towards them just encourages their evil the more? And what about testing (proving) the real secularism of Congress party? What would be the (proven) attitude of Congress when Hindus would paint like Hussein paints, but then Muslim holy character? Would that not clearly show the bias of Congress party? Then where is such a Hindu painter? Why is nobody challenging the secularism og Cong/UPA in this matter?

The MF Hussain painting which you have published on womans day i.e on 8th March 2009 of your Hyderabad Edition in which MF Hussain portrayed Hindu Woman titled as "Shakti" has hurt deeply millions of Hindus acroos the Nation particularly in Andhra Pradesh.
We Hindus residing in Hyderabad and Andhra Pradesh in millions have been reading your news paper since decades. Before publishing it you never appear to take stock of the possible violation of the ethical code of journalism.
Added to this you have claimed the painting was exclusive to DC as if it is a great achievement for your publication.
A couple of days back you have apologised Muslims of Hyderabad for publishing the caption news item on the recent victory of Sri A.R. Rehman for his triump at Oscars, but tilted the news item as AR Rehman the top dog"
You profusely apologised for hurting the sentiments of Muslims-Keeping in view of the hurt feelings of millions of Hindus we demand an apology to be published in the coming editions, and not to repeat or indulge in such deliberate tactics for publicity by dragging Hindu Religious sentiments in future.

Muslims can bring anyone to their knees! Deccan Chronicle is clearly Anti-Hindu, does not care for Hindu sentiments. When I called on the phone number to communicate my protest, the editor was simply not available and they asked me to send my complaint through an email. Stark difference between their behavior towards Hindus and Muslims. Even the judicial system is against Hindus and for muslims.

It is a horrible denigration of Goddess Durga by Hussain. He has added one more to his anti-Hindu acts! O Hindus, it is high time that we all get up and fight against this mockery of Hinduism. Hussain must be seriously dealt with and so also Deccan Chronicle should publicly apologize to the Hindus!

I agree totally that the Andhra Government should take action. but unfortunately the laws of the Land are not same for all. the Muslims are pampered and the feelings of the Hindus are not important. It is time that we vote in such a manner that they the politicians take cognisance of us.

I was shocked to see the cartoon offering as M..F.
Hussain's tribute to the women of India. Just because it says M.F. Hussain has drawn it, does not mean that it is good. the only thing correct in the picture are the words, 'The essense of Indian womehood is Shakti'. But the picture that is drawn is not only derogatory for the Hindus, we worship Shakti! it is also derogatory to the women of India. It also shows Shakti with a Black Halo! All know Black shakti is negative energy which is used to do black magic. And we women of India definitely do not like being shown as this type of Shakti. The sad part is that Ms.Jayanti (a women)should be the one for printing this Picture. Apology needed1

One day on the road side, an old poor man was drawing the nice pictures of Jesus Christ and Sirdi Sai Baba with ordinary colours. At the end, he kept a candle at Jesus and a Diya at Sai pictures. Many people gathered and offered money to him. To encourage this poor artist, I interacted little bit with him. I got surprised when he told that his name is AKBAR PASHA. He do not feel it as un-Islamic to draw the pictures of Jesus and Sai, put candle and diya and accept money/food for his family in the name of other gods.
In my opinion this AKBAR PASHA is 1000 times greater than dirty M F Hussain, who is part of frontal organisations of jihadi forces.
Please take serious action against those who manhandled and denigrated Durga devi.

Hussain is still continuing drawing denigrating pictures of hindu dietis though he is out of country. Deccan Chronical is also very well aware of the sentiments of Hindus getting hurt by these activities. Hindus, now we should join together and boycott Deccan Chronical and make other denigrator's alert before they publish such pictures.

Hussain should have not done such paintings.He is a great shaitan in the garb of an artist.He shouldnt be allowed to touch this holy land of our ancestors with his napaak haraam body.
Let me ask him why did he not paint Mohammad Sahib(pbuh),his mother,or his wife Ayesha in similar styl ? Daccan chronical's ceo is a dalaal.This paper must have been supported financialy to pamper shaitans like MF Husain.Such like medias and communals are responsibles to create anti-hindu feelings in majority of the country.They want hindu-muslims to fight each others.They want on the other hand to defame Islam from behind the walls.

Will some body write a book or dictionary of anti-hindu Hindus,or hindu-drohis from 1947 on wards as Mahatma Gandhi,Nehru,Bahuguna,Arjun singh,VP Singh,Digvijay singh,Manyshanker Ayer,Karunanidhi,Baalu,Laloo,Mulu etc? Even though this post is late in context to the event, I felt it important to record my overwhelming exasperation at the abuse Hindus are subjected to from with out and with in. The sheer helplessness at being unable to do anything to the planned, conspired and constant enethical and disrespectful bashing leaves me frustrated. I only hope that this inability of mine is similarly felt by my other millions of Hindu brothers & sisters thus bringing in a reckoning of unity amongst the various factions of Hindus, be it from any class or creed....I only Hope!
Bravo, Such kind of action is expected from all Hindus for any kind of denigration/defamation of Hindu Dharma.

Deccan Chronicle has long ago joined the list of communal newspapers and has a notorious history of being pro-muslim thanks to its editor MJ Akbar. Since times immemorial it had a reputation of being pro-congress.So this fiasco is nothing new for the newspapaer.Earlier there were not many eng dailies in hyderabad and DC enjoyed a monopoly. But since times of india entered hyderabad many hindus have shifted to that daily. Many of my friends and relatives who were DC loyalists have shifted.This incident will only aggravate that phenomenon. DC will slowly see a shift of its intellectual readers to other dailies. Who buys DC nowadays anyway!!

Hindus only react to such denigrating /damaging acts and very often even do not react. It is shameful for this ancient philosophy to have no inbuilt tenets for shaping it a proactive society, with the result that its geographical expanse has been squeezing, and it is very likely that after recent partition, giving rise to Islamic states and loss of Kashmir, India (BHARAT) may fragment in many states, as reflected from the political overtones.
Instead of being only reactive we must act to render Hindu society a staunch nationalistic well nit society..

It is a shame a daily newspaper like the DC has published such an image of Godess Durga Devi. They should have at least learnt a lesson from the cartoons published in a Danish Daily. I reproduce a few clippings from various print media sources all over the world for the benefit of interested readers.
