Australia’s biggest Hindu temple to open on November 30

Shri Durga Temple, Australia’s biggest Hindu temple, is ready for its grand opening on November 30, a media report said here on Thursday.

The temple is located in Rockback suburb of Melbourne.

After five years of construction works, the temple will provide a house of worship to the growing population of Hindus in the country, Asian correspondent reported.

The temple will open with fireworks to cap seven days of pre-opening ceremonies, called Pran Pratishtha Programme, which started on November 24.

“The temple serves as an important accomplishment to pass on Hindu spirituality, concepts and traditions to coming generations,” said Rajan Zed, president of the Nevada-based Universal Society of Hinduism.

The management of the Sri Durga Temple is planning to make the temple a non-profit organisation to undertake charitable activities.
