Effect of HJS drive against crackers

Circular issued by Education Department

Pune : Awareness is created by voluntary organizations since many years towards noise and air pollution caused due to crackers. Such awareness is being created amongst children who have maximum interest in bursting crackers and this drive is slowly getting success. Schools have also extended help in this drive. Education Department has instructed schools and colleges to create awareness amongst students so as to reduce use of crackers. Education Department has, in fact, issued a circular which says that ‘Students should be explained about use of crackers and its ill effects; besides giving instructions on celebrating Diwali conducive for protection of environment’.

The outcome of all these efforts is creating awareness amongst students from almost all schools in the city towards making less use of crackers. Before Diwali vacation, an oath was taken for Diwali, to conserve environment and avoid pollution. In some schools, lectures were organized to explain ill effects of crackers on health and parents have reported that as a result of all these collective efforts, children were keeping away from crackers.
