Sattavik Picture of Lord Ram

Why we must stop denigration of our deities.

In a broad sense, denigration means displaying something in an undesirable form/shape, different from its original form/shape.Any act or object that obstructs emanation of subtle sattvik vibrations of the Divine can also be considered denigration.Divine symbols emanate sattva guna (the Divine vibrations). It serves as a source of inspiration to an individual, to live his life in a righteous manner. So denigration can shatter faith of individuals and set unwanted examples for future generations. It create a doubt about the credibility of the Divine / its Symbol. Finally, it can even cause elimination of religious practices and facilitate destruction of religion. For more clarrification click here

We are giving here Sattavik picture of Lord Sree Ram prepared by Sanatan Sanstha. Anybody can compare from below pictures which one you feel good ?

A Thought by HJS reader

I feel every bit as strongly as you all do. But let us not underestimate the power of letters written to Oscar committee head Mr. Sid Ganis (president@oscars.org), head of Writers Guild Patric Verrone (pverrone@wga.org) and head of Directors' Guild Michael Apted (laraine@dga.org). If a steady stream of letters from proud and dignified Hindus reaches the desks of these people, it will make them stop and think.

HJS Protestor filed PIL against Slumdog Millionaire in Mumbai

January 28, 2009

Mumbai: As the film industry celebrates the huge success of Slumdog Millionaire all over globe, there are certain voices of dissent being heard in Mumbai. They are complaining about the allegedly offensive content.

"We request that please change the name of the film to Slum dash Millionaire or Slum dash Crorepati. Dog is a bad word," says a Corporator from Mumbai, Nicholas Almeida.

While Andheri Corporator Nicolas Almeida filed a PIL in the court against the allegedly offensive name of the film, the Hindu Janjagriti Samiti held a demonstration at Dadar against what they call is an offensive depiction of Lord Ram in one of the film's scenes.

"They show Lord Ram in a scene where Hindus are killing Muslims, as if Lord Ram was a killer of Muslims," says District Convenor Hindu Janjagriti Samiti Shivaji Vatkar.

The samiti has also sent a petition to the film censor board, requesting them to delete this scene. They also claim that it may incite communal passion.

Boycott the Movie ‘Slumdog Millionaire’

The Movie also depicts a scene where during one of the Hindu-Muslim riots a small boy is portrayed dressed as Lord Sree Ram, and the hero of the Movie named ‘Jamal Malik’ is shown as running away in great fear after having one look at the boy dressed as Lord Sree Ram. Thus it has been purposefully shown as if Sree Ram is a killer of Muslims. The background of 1992-1993 riots which took place in Mumbai has been utilized for the scene. The scene creates a false impression that Hindus kill Muslims. All these can create tension between Hindu and Muslim religions. It can even affect the law and order situation. This was stated by Shri. Shivaji Vatkar, HJS’ coordinator for Thane and Raigad Districts. The protest campaign is also started on the HJS’s website since last two days. The Hindus from all corners of world are lodging their protests against this movie on this website, said Shri. Vatkar. The activists of HJS however protested peacefully with placards explaining the cause for protest in their hands. About 25 police personnel were present at the site of protest.

Furious Hindus are registering their protest on E-mail ID & website of Shri. Anil Kapoor. He has played an  important role in the movie ‘Slumdog millionaire'.

The police said the Shiv Sainiks have been booked for tearing posters and breaking the glass facade of the only multiplex in Panaji.

Censor board opposes to ban 'Slumdog Millionaire'January 22, 2008

Paush Krushna Dwadashi

Shame on such a Film Censor board that disregard Hindu sentiments and show unwillingness to halt release of Movies that denigrate Hinduism!

Mumbai: The Hindu Janjagruti Samiti had filed a petition requesting the prevention of release of the new Movie ‘Slum Dog Millionaire’ since it openly denigrates revered Hindu Deity Lord SriRam and pokes fun at the rich Indian Culture.  With regards to this petition there was a discussion between the senior members of the HJS and the Censor Board member Shri Vinay Azad.  During this meeting Shri Azad mentioned that they cannot halt the release of the Film shows since they had already given it a ‘go ahead’ earlier.

(Would the Censor Board have taken the same adamant and negative stance towards Muslims if they had come to the Censor Board with a similar request saying that a particular film or movie should not be shown since it hurts Muslim sentiments?  It is a fact that there is a widespread disregard and ‘taken for granted’ attitude towards Hindu sentiments.  How long will the situation remain so? - Editor)

The objection taken by HJS was due to the following scenes presented in the Movie.  This entire movie (Slum Dog Millionaire ) portray Bharat wrongly as a country ridden with negative socio-cultural aspects such as Extreme Poverty, Continuous rioting, Prostitution etc., these scenes have been over exaggerated.  The Movie also depicts a scene where during one of the Hindu-Muslim riots a small boy is portrayed dressed as Lord SriRam, and the hero of the Movie named ‘Jamal’ is shown as running away in great fear after having one look at the boy dressed as Lord SriRam.  This scene is disrespectful towards Hindu deities and it has hurt Hindu religious sentiments. Needless to say, the scene also creates a wrong impression while depicting Hindus as torturing Muslims.

(This Movie portrays Bharat (India)to the entire world in a completely different, wrong and unrealistic perspective.  By refusing to halt the release of such a film, it only compels one to come to the conclusion that the Film Censor Board of India harbors anti-Hinduism and anti-national views.  We would also like to know what our dear national leaders and politicians are doing about halting the release of this Movie? - Editor)

Shri Azad responded, “The story of this film is entirely a figment of imagination.  This is not an informative documentary film that shows all the different and various aspects of riots.  Riots are portrayed in so many other Hindi Movies as well.

We do not see Lord SriRam being shown in a disrespectful manner, therefore The Censor Board has given an ‘A’ certificate (Only for Adult viewers) for the English version of this movie and a “U”/”A” Certificate (For age 12years and above with Parental guidance) for the Hindi version of the movie.  Now since the Board has already passed the certificate we cannot do anything to halt the release of the movie into the mainstream public view”.

The HJS members then explained to Shri Azad how the scene of Lord SriRam was entirely in the wrong in a spiritual perspective as per the Science of Spirituality.  Following that Shri Azad called for a meeting of the Censor Board with the HJS members to discuss the topic, but promptly clarified that it is not in the hands of the Censor Board to halt the release of the movie but the HJS can take the matter further to the National Information and Broadcasting Ministry or only the Higher Court Orders can halt release of this movie.

The HJS panel included senior member Shri Shivaji Vatkar. In Karnataka, The Chief of the Samiti, Mrs Purnima Prabhu and Shri Mohan Gouda also filed a protest petition with the ‘Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce’ to halt release of this movie.  Similarly the HJS is also filing protests from it’s website.  Hindus with pride for their Dharma and Religion can file their protests at the following points:

HJS strongly opposes the movie 'Slumdog Millionaire'

January 21, 2008

By Staff Reporter

Panaji (Goa):
'Slum Dog Millionaire', an award winning picture at the international level, has shown Lord Rama and the Indian culture in poor light, thus hurting the religious sentiments of Hindus. This picture is being released in India, also in Goa on 23rd Jan 2009.  Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has strongly opposed this movie. HJS' delegation will meet the government and other concerned authorities tomorrow and will demand not to screen this movie in Goa.

This movie denigrates Lord Rama through a game show. A question asked in this game show takes the character Jamal into back flash. The question is, 'What is Lord Rama holding in his right hand?' This question reminds Jamal of the riots that had occurred during his childhood. The film shows that Hindus attack a Muslim area saying, 'They're Muslims, get them!' Jamal's mother is killed by a Hindu after being hit by a rod on the head. Jamal and his brother Salim run away after seeing their mother killed. While running they reach a street where they see a child dressed like God Rama. Jamal watches him carefully, sees a bow in his right hand and thinking that he will be killed by this child dressed as Lord Ram runs away in a different direction. This child looks horrible. Facial expressions and the pose taken by this child dressed like God Rama is denigrating and hurts the religious sentiments of Hindus.

It is important to note that in 1992, there were gruesome riots all over India and serial blasts in Mumbai post Babri demolition. The Babri demolition was done to get back Ayodhya Temple, the birth place of God Rama. This background has been used by the producers of this movie to answer this question. Also this question is carefully chosen. The message that emerges from whole scene is that God Rama holds a bow in the right hand to kill people. It is very clear that the producer wants to create a malicious impression about Hindu Gods and culture.  This movie has been criticised and protested by Shri. Amitabh Bachchan and various proud Indians and Hindus.

In view of this, HJS' delegation meets Central Board of Film Certification officials in Mumbai yesterday and demanded not to grant permission to such a controversial movie at least in India as it strongly believes that it will hurt the religious sentiments of millions of Indians and malign the image of Hindu deities and religion.

Dear Sir,

Sub: Request for Not to grant permission to Movie “Slum Dog Millionaire” Depicting  Lord Ram & Indinan culture in poor light

Hindu Janjagruti Samiti is registered NGO doing social, religious and National welfare work. Samiti has been formed by devoted Hindus doing voluntary charitable work. Samiti is active throught India and educating people about Dharma in scientific way, campaigning against malpractices done under religious practices and solving problems connected with National, Religious and social field.

We are surprised and shocked, as the movie Slum Dog Millionaire, which has been showing to packed houses in the West and  being released in India 23rd Jan 2009 has shown Lord Rama and Indian culture in poor light hurting religious sentiments and may create communal disharmony hence needs to be banned.

There is a question asked in the game show of the movie 'In depictions of God Rama, he is famously holding what in right Hand?' Jamal remembers riots happened in his childhood. The film shows that Hindus attacks Muslim area shouting 'They're Muslims, get them'. Jamal's mother was killed by a Hindu after she was hit by a rod on the head. Jamal and his brother Salim ran away after seeing their mother killed. While running they reach a street in which they see a child dressed like God Rama. Jamal watched him carefully and sees a bow in his right hand and thinking that he will be killed by the person dressed as Lord Ram, he went by a different route. This child looks horrible. Facial expressions and the pose taken by child dressed like God Rama is denigrating to the religious sentiments of Hindus.

It is important to note that in 1992, there were gruesome riots all over India and serial blasts in Mumbai post Babri demolition. The Babri demolition was done to get back Ayodhya Temple, the birth place of God Rama. This background was used by producers to answer this question. Also this question is carefully chosen. The message that emerges from whole scene is that God Rama holds bow and arrow in right hand to kill people. It is very clear that producer wants to create bad impression about Hindu Gods and culture.

For your information this movie has been criticised and protested by Shri.Amitabh Bachchan and various proud Indians and Hindus.

In view of above we here by request your honour, not to grant permission to such controversial movie at least in India as we strongly believe that it will hurt relation and religious sentiments of millions of Indians. We therefore request you to take the note of this and record our protest in the matter.

Please acknowledge receipt. Trust you will inform us the action being taken in the matter and oblige.

Thanking You,

'Slumdog Millionaire' shows God Rama in bad light

January 19, 2009

Dear HJS,

I happened to watch an award winner movie 'Slumdog Millionaire'. It tells the story of a young man named Jamal Malik from the slums of Mumbai who appears on a game show. The story is about how he got answers those made him millionaire. This film has won number of awards, including four Golden Globe Awards.

God Rama in the scene of movie 'Slumdog Millionaire'
God Rama in the scene of movie 'Slumdog Millionaire'

There is a question asked in the game show. 'In depictions of God Rama, he is famously holding what in right Hand?' Jamal remembers riots happened in his childhood. The film shows that Hindus attacks Muslim area shouting 'They're Muslims, get them' and starts hitting Muslims and Muslims were running away. Jamal's mother was killed by a Hindu by hitting a rod on forehead. Jamal and his brother Salim ran away. While running they reach in one galli. They see a child dressed like God Rama, Jamal watched him carefully and sees bow in his right hand and then they changed the route. This child looks horrible. Facial expressions and the pose taken by child dressed like God Rama is very skeptical at that situation.

It is important to note that in 1992, Muslims done gruesome riots all over India and serial blasts in Mumbai post Babri demolition. The Babri demolition was done to get back Ayodhya Temple, the birth place of God Rama. This background was used by producers to answer this question. Also this question is carefully chosen. The message that emerges from whole scene is, God Rama holds bow and arrow in right hand to kill people. It is very clear that producer wants to create bad impression about Hindu Gods and culture.

The film is shown across the world and has done good business. But no Hindu viewer has boldly voiced their opinion against this prejudiced scene. Will this producer ever dare to picture similar scene replacing God Rama with Prophet or Jesus?

This movie also included a scene that compares India and America showing India is country of thieves and America is land of humanity.

Hindus are silent and tolerant in nature. Now they have become ignorant also. Defamation of our beloved Gods does not give a pinch to their heart. They have become like dead. Let us voice our opinion. We can win God Rama's grace by voicing our protest and forcing people to stop this defamation.

Protest letter by Proud Hindus to Censor Board

Dear Chairman and members of  Indian (Hindustan) Censor Board,

The patience of the majority Hindus will be put in test again by screening the movie called Slumdog Millionire, which is reliably learnt that their Maryada Purushttam Sri Rmachandra Moorthy is denigrated and shown as the cause behind the Hindu-Mohmedan riot. The movie also distorted the history by showing Hindus attacking Mohmedans whereas, it was Mohmedan hooligans who started riot and attacked Hindus engineered by the Smuggler and underworld don Dawwod Ibrahim, a traitor. Hindus had to retaliate but the movie shows as if Hindus were attacking Mohmedans. This deliberate attempt to show Hindus in poor light in their own land can never be permitted. Kindly see that the movie is NOT screened anywhere in India that is HINDUSTAN.

Kindly avoid another law and order problem by disallowing this movie to be shown.

To Whomsoever It May Concern

This is regarding the Academy's controversial decision to nominate Slumdog Millionaire for 10 awards. There is poverty in Bharat (misnomer: India), no doubt about that, thanks to those who have (mis)ruled the nation especially after so-called Independence. But then which country doesn't have poverty? Still the way in which Danny Boyle has exploited it in his commercial movie Slumdog Millionaire and also turned it up side down by filling it with lots of Anti-Hindu prejudice is disgusting. And those who are lauding this exploitative movie at Hollywood Foreign Press Association's Golden Globes located in West Hollywood or nominating it at The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences's Oscars located in Beverly Hills should know that as per World Socialist Website and The Institute for the Study of Homelessness and Poverty, the largest population of Homeless in the US live in the city they are all identified with: Los Angeles. (Source: Los Angeles: city of the stars becomes US homeless capital, Homelessness in Los Angeles County, Cartifact: Downtown Los Angeles Homeless Map)

This movie is full of Anti-Hindu prejudices that "evil" Hindus are out to get "innocent" Muslims which is a completely horrendous, mythical, nonsecular and absolutely politically incorrect point of view. Also a clear violation of "Revised guidelines for shooting feature films in India by foreign nationals/co-productions" and Cinematograph Act 1952 laid down by Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Govt. of India. Like Mr. Kanchan Gupta said in his article "Slumdog is about defaming Hindus" in The Daily Pioneer (Source:  http://www.dailypioneer.com/152164/Slumdog-is-about-defaming-Hindus.html),
"Nor is it surprising that Boyle should have cunningly changed the name of the film's — as also the book's — protagonist from Vikas Swarup's Ram Mohammad Thomas (a sort of tribute to the Amar Akbar Antony brand of 'secularism' which was fashionable in the 1970s) to Jamal Malik."
The film also makes fun of respectable Hindu God Shri Ram to show him as "evil" who is out to kill people especially Muslims. This hurts my religious sentiments and believably so of Millions of devout Hindus in US and around the world. He shows that Hindu mobs murder Muslims and not vice versa, completely suppressing that these riots were during 1993 terrorist bomb blasts by Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar (a Muslim follower of Radical Islam now living in Pakistan, India's most wanted, 4th on the World's 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list by Forbes) and that allot of Indians irrespective of their religion suffered in such heinous Muslim-Hindu riots. Why show a bias?

It just proves that to fit the movie in west likeable square, one should fill it, as Boyle did, with Make-fun-of-India masala to make it western acceptable along with Anti-Hindu prejudice tadka to make it secularly acceptable (or politically correct) then fry it to exploit the poverty of the nation to make it socially acceptable and voilà we have an Indian poverty porn (Source: Shocked by Slumdog's poverty porn by Alice Miles, Times Online, UK) curry which will make every nationalist patriotic Hindu and Indian embarrassed and make the producers, cast and crew of the movie Millionaires at the cost of the exploited Slumdogs (which I believe is a derogatory and condescending term).

I strongly believe that it will hurt relation and religious sentiments of millions of Indians and Hindus resp. I therefore request you to take the note of this and record my protest in the matter. Please acknowledge receipt. I trust that you will inform me of the action being taken in the matter and oblige. Thank you for your time.

Best Regards,
Seema

Dear Hindu Brothers and Sisters

We are always wasting time in correction and fighting with these forces. Why we don't have courage so they don't even think to do this to Hindu religion. Can they do same thing to Muslims or islam? Hopefully world has not forgotten the Ductch news paper and it's cartoon controversies!!

Goat and sheep are always use for sacrifice not the lions? This is the big example.

am I the only one or anyone else noticed this the total cast of slumdog millionair is muslim except Guljar and Lead role and anilkapoor Guljar got the chance because Javed akhthar rejected it and anilkapoor got the role because sharukh khan rejected it.
it is not just Hindus it iw whole of india showed in a badlight no one watched the movie until it recived the award, that shows that there is a Pakisthani ISI hand to show India as a bad place and many of Indians didnot see this, if a slum dweller muslim is a reality a great muscian lie Raheman is also a reality, west want to see what they thin is real.

A BLACK DAY FOR HINDUISM, when the ignorant sycophants at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences gave the Oscar to the bigoted, Hindu-bashing medicrity, SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE.

It does not reflect on our faith--it is a reflection on all those Hindus who are too busy trying to appear "secular" and "hip" and "modern," and did not raise their voices to protest this enormous insult to us and our faith.

Bad things happen because people are afraid to speak out. And the average Hindu is a coward.

This happened us yesterday.

We were in line to buy movie tickets at a theater. There was a couple behind us, and the girl asked "whats the movie slumdog about?" and the guy, looking at us, replies, "its about dogs".

From now on, Indians abroad will be called DOGS, and we cannot blame them. We threw this xxxx on ourselves.

In all likelihood, this hate-filled film will win the Oscar this weekend. Americans who are gushing about this film (which is less than mediocre, even as a film) have no clue that this film is deeply insulting to Hindus and tarnishes the Hindu faith. They think this film represents Indian culture! Add to American ignorance British racism and Hindu cowardice, and you have there the perfect combiation to destroy Hinduism.

I wonder will such director(s) show Jesus or Mohammed similarly. If so, what would have happened?? But Rama is a poor guy without any support, he was abused and beat with broomsticks and footwears in Tamil Nadu once, and isulted repeatedly by the so-called "leaders" till date. What can be done?

SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE has just been awarded Best Director, Screenplay, music & best picture awards at the BAFTA awards--British version of Oscars. It has also just won the Writers Guild Best Adapted Screenplay award?

Anyone surprised? Given the apathy & passivity of most Hindus, it is not a surprise. And more such "works of art" will be en route, to smear the world's oldest and most wise religion, because those who have inherited that religion are, for the most part, cowardly and passive.

Each HJS reader should patiently work with at least 3 Hindus to educate them about the basics of self-esteem & self-respect. Otherwise, our faith will be destroyed.

It's not a victory to have censored parts of SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE. If the film is released in let us say India, with the anti-Hindu slurs removed, would the audience not think Hindus who protested this film are "fanatics" or "extremists"? What good does it do, to excise mere parts of a foul, rotting corpse?

We have to work hard to educate our Hindu people to step up & speak out. That way, films like this hate-filled film will never be made--leave alone released to such undeserved acclaim.

I am disgusted that the Directors Guild has honored Danny Boyle with its award.

The silver lining in this black cloud is that hopefully the way Western critics, guilds, awards committees have embraced this Hindu-bashing film will serve as a wake-up call to our Hindus. I'm sick & tired of Hindus telling me they don't mind insults to our religion because they are secular! Secular means accepting the rights of all faiths to practise their belief--it does NOT mean tolerating insults to one's own faith.

When Hindus grow a spine, the abuse to Hinduism will stop.

I am outraged to read Shahrukh Khan's suppor of SLUMDOG in the prior posting. I'd like to ask this man, whom India has allowed a superstar status: How many Hindu stars are there is Pakistan? How many Hindus and their temples have been even allowed to survive in Muslim countries? Let us say some filmmaker had the guts to potray this truth--would Shahrukh Khan support such a film?

As a Muslim man who has been successful in India in a way he would not have in Muslim countries (all those love scenes with women would get him a "fatwa"), it is high time he and other terrorist-fans in Bollywood start putting support of their country and their all-accepting Hindu fellows as a top priority.

This is yet another incident where Hindu Gods are being ill-treated. If the producers of the film feel that by defaming Hindu Gods, they are under the false impression that they can wipe out Hindu culture from the world as Hindu culture is immortal; On the contrary they themselves may get wiped off if they try something similar in future. BEWARE.

But it is really saddening to note that you have been part of the anti india gang, bent on denigrating indian culture and its icons. It seems that movie is deliberately made to show india and hindus in poor light and ridicule Maryada puroshottam Ram. As a matter of fact, the riots in mumbai were sponored by Dawood and his hench men and hindus reacted to defend themselves. kashmiri Hindus are ethnically cleansed from Kashmir valley. While I, like other Hindus, dislike violence and destruction of property, I know the extent to which we Hindus are repressed and our religion is abused, and can completely understand the anguish and helpless, futile hurt felt by the Shiv Sena. The Indian govt., in the name of secularism, is the biggest stooge the Western media has. Both entities think Hindu-abuse is fair game.

I object to your description of "A mob of Shiv Sena activists." "Mob" brings to mind mindless thugs, who loot and kill for the hell of it. This is certainly how the anti-Hindu media characterizes any sign of helpless Hindu anguish, but why are we, a group of proud Hindus, using the same negative words?

I feel every bit as strongly as you all do. But let us not underestimate the power of letters written to Oscar committee head Mr. Sid Ganis (president@oscars.org), head of Writers Guild Patric Verrone (pverrone@wga.org) and head of Directors' Guild Michael Apted (laraine@dga.org).

If a steady stream of letters from proud and dignified Hindus reaches the desks of these people, it will make them stop and think. The average Westerner knows nothing about India and the glorious history of Hinduism. They think what they see in SLUMDOG is the truth. So when we write, we educate them. And we can have an impact and possibly prevent this vitriolic film from receiving important awards.

It is good that Censor Board's decision has been challenged in a court of law. When the petition comes up for hearing, Censor Board members should be cross-examined in the court to find out as to what criteria they are following for banning a film and also as to whether they are applying the same norms to all films. Individuals can also file criminal complaints against the exhibitors for hurting their religious sentiments.

What a shame on us hindus who are still silent and too lazy to come to streets and protest for our dharma. What are we waiting for?

Hindu organisations must come together and make a policy that Film Board Censors must consult Hindus when they approve release of films which are objected by Hindus. Please press for such a law/arrangement!

If this does not happen, anybody will show Hinduism in a bad light in their movies!

Hindu organisations and all Hindus must take this responsability!!!

Protesting to the makers of the film is very good but prevention of these things (in the future) is much better!

It can not be so that only (often biased) members of the Central Borad of Film Censors discuss among themselves whether to allow a film while the entire (Hindu) society is neglected. After all, Hindus will go to the cinema!

We are living in a country which has different set of of laws for different religions. As usual, if not baiting Hindus the our govt will try to encourage people to do the same while muslims and christians are not to be touched even if they are murderers and thugs. Read the report below,

It is shameful on the part of Censor Board of India giving flimsy reasons not to stop the movie. Will it do the same thing if it was protested by Muuslims or Christians? Hindus in their own country are subject to subjugation, all patriotic souls raise your voice against this gross injustice.

This is for Mr. LingRaj. I respect the fact that you have taken the time to share your thoughts with us. I would like to explain why so many Hindus are outraged by SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE.

You say "The film shows India as it is and as it was in those days of the riots. Hindus killed muslims and muslims killed Hindus." But the trouble with SLUMDOG is it never shows any atrocity on the part of Muslims. Only Hindus are depicted as murderous thugs--which is what one white reviewer said, after seeing this film.

I respectfully submit this, to explain our point-of-view.

I watched the film several days ago and I have similar impressions. The film shows Muslims as a discriminated minority and Hindus as oppressors. In fact, the truth is just the opposite. Apart from that, the film depicts an orphanage run by Hindus made to look cruel and ruthless. The camera focuses on the name "Sai Ganesh" they use which was done on purpose to denigrate our Gods as well as Sathya Sai Baba. The film shows the people from the orphanage telling children to sing a song by Surdas and then someone approaching them and taking their eyes out. The song was clearly added maliciously to bash our Dharma. BTW: this film is unrealistic in many other aspects.

Please send your letters immediately to Michael Apted, president of the Directors Guild of America. Director Danny Boyle of SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE must not get the Directors Guild award for directing this film that bashes Hindus. Racism against any other religion is treated seriously; about time bigorty against Hindus is taken seriously and punished. So protest Boyle’s nomination with the Directors Guild by writing to Michael Apteed at laraine@dga.org.

It is the right of the Hindus to hold a ban on such a movie which shows only the so called cruelity of the Hindus where as all the cruelty is done by the Muslim community.

This will trivilize the matter and make matters worse - linking us to the "fundamentalist forces" everyone accuses us of being.

The film shows India as it is and as it was in those days of the riots. Hindus killed muslims and muslims killed Hindus. Why deny the facts and why try and hide behind Lord Rama for that ?

Those who think the film shows India or its culture in bad light have no idea how India is already seen by majority of the world - not just the West. Our caste rules and shanty towns are what people talk of when they hear the word "India". At least this film is trying to show that even in such circumstances, there is hope !!

To all hindus please go through the all casting of the movie Slum Dog Millionaire are 70% Muslims, and trying to show that Hindus are dominating and Muslims are sufferers.
They are trying to misguide all the world with the information Muslims are dominated by Hindus.
Again trace the sentence in the movie "If Ram was not born, my mother would not have died?" Its showing the how these people are seek about spoiling the Hindu culture by spreding this kind of information.
We should BAN this movie.

How bout if we make a movie showing Vasco da Gama and his Portuguese men killed and converting Hindus of Goa. And don't forget to play a scene where they burn down temples, replace them with churches, and rape our respected Hindu women.

And for Jamal...Well he should be scared. Only evil man like Ravan are scared of Ram. Ram does not hesitate in killing Ravan because letting Ravan live will be justifying darkness and Adharma.

So if Hindus keep on hesitating in uplifting Dharma, then there will always be darkness and evil through out India for eternity.

The choice is yours !

I am thrilled to see Hindus speaking up for our faith. I was horrified when I saw this film. The British director would never have dared portray Muslims and Islam in this light--but Hindus, because we are apathetic and disunited are easy targets for such insults and abuse. No self-respecting Hindu will support this film, no matter how many awards or accolades it wins in the white world. And I am really curious how Hindu actors like Dev Patel consented to act in something that is so vitriolic against his faith. Oh, I forgot. Maybe Dev Patel is a modern-thinking secularist!

Question: is this scene (of a frightening Lord Ram) also scripted in the book (which has been filmed)?

If not, one could indeed accuse the producers of the film of carelesness, the least.
If yes, was Lord Ram described like this too in the book? If so, why did not anybody notice this earlier?

Hindus must crush these things in the initial phase and not allow them to grow like cancer and then try to find a cure afterwards!

I am happy to see this article and these comments. This is a vicious anti-Hindu film, & the joke it is was released in the U.S. a week after Muslims slaughtered innocents in Mumbai. Danny Boyle does not have the guts to criticize Muslims, but because Hindus are passive & do not seem able to understand when they are insulted, we are easy targets for everyone.

Many of our children of Macaulay, many of them in our MSM, have become millionaires by depicting India as slum and Indians as slumdogs. Being the Indian variety of secularists (meaning anti-hindu) they don't bother about portraying hindu Gods/Goddesses, scriptures in bad light. On the contrary they will be very much delighted, for it is artistic expression for them. But the artistic expression must be limited to denigrating hinduism and not any other "isms" otherwise the very same secularists start frothing from their mouths.

It is shocking how the celebrity Anil Kapoor allowed this scarilege of Hinduism by allowing such projections of Rama worshipped by millions in India!! Western media is thristing for critical projection of Indian culture and Hinduism and Hindu-s from India itself provide the fodder for them.

Amitabh Bacchan was right in his critical observations about the "Slum Lord..."

Was MF Hussain any different from Anil Kapoor in depicting Hindu Gods in bad light?
