Teach Pak a lesson, then hold talks : VHP

New Delhi : The VHP today suggested calling off NSA-level talks with Pakistan, insisting these cannot be held in a “war-like” atmosphere and warned of a repeat of Kargil-like situation.

The Hindu right wing outfit also asked the government to review its policy towards Pakistan and said it needs to be changed to make it strong enough to deal with the neighbouring country, which, it said, “should be taught a lesson first”.

“Government should cancel the NSA-level talks. The present environment is not conducive for talks. Talks and war cannot happen together. Today, there is a war-like atmosphere and it should be dealt with accordingly.

“Teach Pakistan a lesson first and then hold talks, which will yield good results. Otherwise, we fear a repeat of Kargil may take place,” VHP joint general secretary Surendra Jain said.

Seeking a review of New Delhi’s Pakistan policy, he said, “India’s policy needs to be reviewed. The Modi government will have to review and change it. The sooner it is done, the better it will be in the interest of the government and the country. India will have to make a strong policy to deal with Pakistan.”

The VHP leader also attacked those giving “communal colour ” to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to a mosque in the UAE, saying it was being done by “pseudo-secularists” to link it with Bihar polls with an eye on votes.

“Some pseudo-secular friends want to harm Narendra Modi’s image by making a big issue out of his visit to a mosque in UAE and link it to Bihar polls. He visited a mosque in Kazakhstan also but no issue was made out then.”

“It demonstrates the mental bankruptcy of such pseudo-secularists who are raising questions about Modi’s visit to a mosque. In the name of secularism, Owaisi, Bukhari and Geelani are trying to divide society,” he said.

The Hindu outfit also lauded Modi’s efforts in helping set up a temple in UAE after the government there agreed to provide land for it and termed it as a “big achievement”.
