Huge success of HJS drive for maintaining honour of national flags !

HJS’s Drive : ‘Respect National Flag’ !

Central Home Ministry, Mumbai Mayor and Administration appeal for prevention of abuse of national flags !

All of them are expected to issue order and not make appeal !

Mumbai : Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) has been undertaking a drive for the past 13 years at Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and at many other places to prevent abuse of national flags, occurring on the occasion of Independence Day. As a part of this drive, HJS filed a petition in High Court and it has borne fruits because it has been observed on the occasion of this year’s Independence Day that the drive has been successful to a large extent.

Central Home Ministry has published in newspapers an appeal to stop use of plastic national flags. Information on flag Code has been given in this appeal for not using plastic national flags. State Home Department has given directions to Tehsildars and District Collectors for disposal of flags made of plastic and paper.

1. Mumbai Mayor, Sou. Snehal Ambekar has issued a press release appealing people to refrain from using plastic national flags.

2. Pune District Administration has made an open appeal to people that they should not use plastic flags and deposit flags lying on the roads with government’s collecting machinery.

3. Additional Superintendent of Police (SP) N. Rakesh Kalasagar has issued preventive notice under clause 149 of Criminal procedure Code to 10 sellers of plastic and paper flags. Shri. Sunil Dalvi of HJS gave information on these vendors to SP after which SP Kalasagar took such action.

4. District Collectors from Western Maharashtra have taken a serious note of the issue and given directions to Administrations for taking necessary action.
