Bajrang Dal warns of grave consequences if banned

New Delhi: Amidst growing demands for a ban on Bajrang Dal, the Hindu outfit today warned that any such move would have "grave consequences" for the government politically as there is "no legal ground" for such an action.

Bajrang Dal Convenor Prakash Sharma insisted that his outfit could not be compared with SIMI as is being done by some political parties.

"The SIMI carries out outright hate campaigns which are anti-India and anti-people while the Bajrang Dal only has the motive to defend Hindu rights," he said while reacting to demands for imposing a ban on the Dal.

"When the Centre is incapable of collecting enough evidence to ban SIMI, what evidence you think they may have against us," Sharma said, adding "in case they ban us it will have grave consequences for the government politically."
