Those who attended RSS’ iftar party should also offer namaz : Azam Khan

Will RSS answer to such statement by SP leader Azam Khan ? – Editor, HJS

Kanpur : Taking a swipe at Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) over organising an iftar party, Uttar Pradesh minister Azam Khan today said those who took part in it should also offer ‘namaz’ for a day.

“Those who attended the Iftar party organised by RSS should also offer namaz for a day,” Khan, the state Urban Development Minister, told reporters while attending an Iftar party organised by a Samajwadi Party leader here.

The RSS had on July 4 held an iftar for Muslims from across the country as well as diplomats of Muslim countries for the first time.

On BJP chief Amit Shah’s recent claim that the party had 1.86 crore members in Uttar Pradesh and it would rule the state in the years to come during a rally here, Khan said, “I don’t think he said this on a serious note. He is a humorous person and he must have said this jokingly.”

On the Clean Ganga drive, he alleged that the Centre sanctions only 10 per cent of the total estimate of state’s project to clean the river.

He claimed that the Clean Ganga Drive is like Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s poll ‘promise’ of putting Rs 20 lakh in every person’s account, which Shah had later called an idiom and said that it should not be taken literally.
