PATA apologises for using ‘distorted’ map of ‘INDIA’

The ‘map’ of India appeared in an advertisement in a Malaysian publication causing an uproar

A day after the usage of what was termed a “distorted” map of India used in an advertisement in a Malaysian publication caused uproar, the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) has tendered an apology to the Karnataka Government.

The PATA is set to organise its travel mart – one of the three major travel marts in the world – in Bengaluru from September 6 to 8.

The Bharatiya Janata Party had, on Monday, accused the State’s Tourism Department of not taking note of a glaring error in the publicity material of an event it was hosting with PATA.

PATA CEO Mario Hardy, in the letter addressed to Tourism and Higher Education Minister R.V. Deshpande, has said the art work has been replaced.
