‘Vedas’ are Divine – Gurudev Dr. Kateswamiji

Chaitra Krushna Dwitiya

Sreerampur (Maharashtra): In the ashram of Gurudev Dr. Kate Swamiji at Wadala Mahadev, there was a gathering of ‘Rhugvedi Pundits’. The purpose of the gathering was to felicitate ‘Vedamurtis’ striving to keep alive and maintain Hindu customs and traditions. ‘Satyanarayana puja’ was performed on the occasion besides discourse by Gurudev Dr. Kate Swamiji.

In his discourse, Dr. Kate Swamiji said, "Vedas are divine. They are not written or composed by man; but they were created just through inspiration. Had they been composed so many years back by man, they would have been destroyed in the course of time; but they are eternal. Sage Bharadwaj could learn only a small portion of ‘Vedas’ even after study of 400 years. ‘Vedas’ are in Sanskrit (language of God). One needs to have a subtle perception to understand the meanings which is not very easy. It can happen only after undertaking spiritual practice for many years. Recently, some have tried to understand the ‘Vedas’ but their effort has been wrong and incomplete. How can one understand the ‘Vedas’ unless one knows the history about their origin. The knowledge of ‘Vedas’ was verbally passed on from generation to generation. The ‘Vaidik Brahmins’ have still maintained the traditions and it is the main purpose of this gathering to felicitate them."

The program started in the early morning at ‘Brahma muhurta’ after the group of Brahmins had auspicious bath. Dr. Kateswami attended the program from 9.00 A.M. when recitation of ‘mantras’ was going on in the presence of ‘Vaidik’ Brahmins and devotees. Revered Vedamurti Athalye was felicitated. The morning session ended with recitation of ‘Pavaman sukta’. On the eve of the gathering i.e. on 20th April, vaidik Brahmins arrived at the ashram from various places like Ratnagiri, Chiplun, Pune, Nanded, Alandi etc. On the occasion of ‘Hanuman Jayanti’ and full moon day, the usual program was also held.
