143 illegal slaughter houses in Maharashtra will be closed

It is expected by the BJP alliance Government to take action against the Ministers and officers in the erstwhile Congress Government for allowing illegal slaughter houses to operate for so many years and, causing slaughter of cow-lineage animals and destruction of environment !

Laudable decision by State Pollution Control Board

Shegaon, Buldhana (Maharashtra) : The Maharashtra Government has decided to close 143 slaughter Houses in the State, which were operating illegally by violating Government rules; these include 2 slaughter houses in Shegaon and others in Khamgaon. The Municipal Council has issued orders to close these slaughter houses with effect from 1st April.

The illegal slaughter houses were indulging in slaughtering more number of cow-lineage animals than permitted and lacking arrangements for processing waste water and solid waste. As a result, orders were issued to concerned Chief Officers of Municipal Councils to close 16 major slaughter houses with immediate effect.

Accordingly, the Chief Officer of Municipal Council, Shegaon Mr. T.G. Mullani issued notices to 2 slaughter houses in the city. As per the State Pollution Act, defaulters are liable for punishment of fine of Rs. 1 lakh and imprisonment of 5 years of hard labour.
