Pliant policies and indifference of Government is leading to increase in insolence of anti-social tendencies ! – Dr. Manoj Solanki

Panaji (Goa) : The Government has failed to nab anti-social elements who had attacked Sanatan’s Ashram around Diwali festival and who had brutally attacked ‘Gou-rakshaks’ just 13 days ago. Now, the gamblers have third time attacked Captain (Retd.) Dattaram Sawant, a social activist. Plaint policies and indifference of the Government are leading to increase in insolence of anti-social elements, accused Dr. Manoj Solanki, the Goa State-Coordinator of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) during a press conference which was attended by Captain (Retd). Dattaram Sawant, Shri. Ramesh Naik, the State –Chief of Shiv Sena and Sarpanch of Pomburfa, Shri. Vinay Chopadekar.

Dr. Manoj Solanki, HJS

Dr. Solanki said, “For the first time in the year 2000, Sanatan Sanstha had raised objection to gambling at places of religious fairs. Later, Shri. Vishwesh Parab and his colleagues undertook movement against gambling; they too received threats. Action should have been taken promptly at that time. It is very unfortunate in a State like Goa such attacks are taking place despite high literacy rate. It is shameful for the educated populace of Goa. The criminals can be controlled only if the Government takes stringent action against the guilty.”

I will fight against wrong doers till my last breath ! – Captain (Retd) Dattaram Sawant

Gamblers broke glasses of my vehicle and attacked me; but I am not afraid of death. I will continue my fight against wrong-doers till my last breath. I have stopped gambling carried on at many places and even now, I will keep on fighting against gambling.”

Police should perform their duty without getting influenced by political pressure ! – Shri. Ramesh Naik

Police and gamblers are hand in gloves with each other; therefore, social activists get beaten up, right in front of police. Police should take stringent action against gamblers. Law and order position has become worse in the regime of BJP Government in Goa. If BJP MLA Rajendra Arlekar can stop people from gambling in his constituency, why is it going on in other constituencies of BJP MLAs ? No gambling takes place in the temple of Menkure village; there is not even liquor bar in this village. Residents of other villages should also stop gambling taking place in their villages. Police should perform their duty without getting influenced by political pressure or baits.

Shri. Vinay Chopadekar said, “Wrong doers have reached our backyards. All of us should fight against such tendencies with unity. Awareness should be created amongst people and we should keep away from such sins.”
