Margao police, indifferent towards confiscation of sacks containing beef

Margao (Goa) : On 19th February morning, sacks carrying meat were brought by Nizamuddin Express which contained 1500 kgs of meat. Among this was 480 kgs of beef. ‘Gou-rakahsks’ of one voluntary organization had given confirmed information to Margao police about beef being brought in railway carriage; however, Margao police paid no attention and didn’t take any action. (It means that police did not want to take any action ! – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)

1. Policemen, 3 men and 1 woman went to Margao railway station, in uniform, carrying sticks, on receiving information about transportation of beef and waited at the station discussing something till the train arrived. (Police did not even think of going to station in plain clothes. Such indifference on the part of police is the cause of many crimes remaining unsolved due to lacunae in investigations ! – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)

2. As the train arrived, 6 boxes containing beef were found wrapped in sacks only with the name of sender as ‘Mohammad, Delhi’ and Receiver as ‘Kamal, Margao’ on the sacks.

3. Gou-rakshaks tried to search goods compartment of the train; but railway officers did not cooperate and the compartment was filled to its capacity with other luggage; therefore, beef could not be found. Police were standing as spectators.

4. The last halt of ‘Goa Express’ is at Vasco. As the Gou-rakshaks learnt this, they went there and showing perseverance, they caught the stock of beef at Vasco station.

5. There were 6 big sacks of beef. Other 8 sacks contained pork which was unloaded at Vasco and remaining sacks of beef were sent to Margao as they were marked in the name of a person called ‘Kamal’, Margao. Margao police, however, took no action till late evening.

6. Representatives of Shiv Sena, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, Gou-raksha Sena, Gou-vansh Raksha Abhiyan, Gou-gyan Foundation, Animal Rescue Squad, Bharat Swabhiman etc. had joined the drive of catching beef.
