Jnanpith award conferred on Bhalachandra Nemade should be withdrawn : HJS

A small organization like Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) raises voice against anti-Hindus; but powerful pro-Hindu organizations keep mum ! Does it mean that they are not concerned about protection of ‘Hindutva’ ?

Mumbai : Bhalchandra Nemade, who constantly spits venom against Hindu Dharma, Hindutva, Brahmins; calls patriots as spoilt citizens; takes pride in despicable criticism against most revered Deities of Hindus like Shrikrushna and Shriram, has been selected for Jnanpith award. Persons, who have always written against Hindutva through their writings and hurt religious sentiments of Hindus, are being conferred prestigious award like Jnanpith, and is in fact biggest insult of Hindus. The objection to Nemade is not only for his Hindu-hatred but it is like felicitating a person who is misleading society and it sends wrong message to people; therefore, opposing to selection of Nemade for this award, in lawful manner, is the duty of every devout Hindu. With this standpoint, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) is condemning decision of Delhi’s ‘Bharateeya Jnanpith Award Committee (BJAC)’ for selecting Nemade and a letter to that effect has been sent to Smt. Indu Jain, the President of BJAC.

It has been stated in the letter that,

1. This award is considered on the basis of literature created by a person; his/ her work in cultural field and his/her work should be of national or international level; but Nemade’s personality and also his literature is exactly contrary to this yard-stick. His writings have hurt religious sentiments of Hindus and his vulgar writing is a shock given to Indian culture. Conferring such award on Nemade will therefore, be against the policies of sponsors of this award. The scholars or experts in particular language generally study literature of the writer before conferring the award; but Nemade’s selection makes one wonder as to what could have been found in his literature or language that led to his selection.

2. The award is conferred on such persons whose contribution to literature is significant. What is Nemade’s contribution to Indian literature ? Level of all literature, he has created is quite ordinary.

3. While conferring this award, such person is gifted an idol of ‘Vagdevi’, who is a form of Goddess Saraswati. Nemade has, however, always criticized Hindu Deities in a very derogatory manner; moreover, his believing in God is also doubtful; therefore, is it not insult of this award to present Nemade, who has always criticized Deities, with an idol of the Goddess?

4.  Nowadays, it has become a fashion in this country, to give awards to those people, who write against Hindu Dharma, culture and history. In other countries, those who criticize their history are totally ignored; but here, those criticizing Indian history are conferred with awards; which is quite surprising and unfortunate. Persons who do not believe in India’s history are awarded, is like insulting Indian history.

5. Nemade used to criticize every award. He has also criticized all literati who have been so far awarded with Jnanpith award. Is it not against the policies of BDAC to confer the award to such person who does not believe in any award.

Given below are few statements from Bhalchandra Nemade’s writings which show his perverted mentality

1. The true heroes in Mahabharata were ‘Kauravas’, they created ‘Mahabharata’.

2. Duryodhana was a person with progressive thinking and didn’t believe in casteism. Brahmins and those, who worked in the interest of Hindutva, destroyed Hindu Dharma.

3. Pandavas hijacked ‘Mahabharata’. Krushna was made the hero when he was only a driver and was immoral person.

4. Malik Amber was the first human being who founded Maharashtra Dharma ! We give that credit to Ramdas but it is not right. Malik Amber only first brought together Marathas like Shahaji and it led to Maratha Dharma. Today, although we are living as per Hindu culture, we are also following Buddhism. All the principles of our Warkari sampradaya have been taken from Buddhism.

5. Babasaheb Purandare never takes names of Daulat Khan, Murbed etc. It has been propagated that Shivaji Maharaj was a Hindutva-vadi; therefore, the historians have constructed such wall in wrong manner and it is now collapsing over them. Such things will have to be discarded; as only then can our country become a super-power.

6. Nemade says, while supporting Owaisi who talked about eliminating Hindus, that Hindutva propagated by Veer Savarkar, Hindu Mahasabha and RSS is responsible for the statement made by Owaisi and it is going to create main problem for Marathi. These organizations spread hatred towards Muslims in this country; so if any Muslim says something against Hindutva, what is wrong in it ?

7. Loyalty does not mean harassment, as Shriram harassed Sita and still called himself as incarnation; therefore, socialist women should first oppose to construction of Ram-Mandir in place of Babri mosque saying that we do not want temple of someone who burnt us and sent us to forest.

8. Till the age of 20-22 years, our children are pure. Once they become 25 years old, they are taught about nation, patriotism, tri-colour, chand-tara etc. and then they start becoming citizens and start getting spoilt. Then they have to say ‘Vande Mataram’ etc. Then, they also have to say that they hate someone else. Thus, by 25-30, these children become complete fools. It was understood by our Pandurang Sangavikar (main character in Nemade’s novel called ‘Kosala’) at the age of 25 years; therefore, he decided he will do what others say. We have no guts to become a ‘sanyasi’ and it is not easy to commit suicide; therefore, comparatively, it becomes easier to be citizen or to say ‘Vande Mataram’ and easiest thing to do is to hate another country. (One cannot be a Hindu if his/ her blood does not boil after reading the above. – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)

The above are few selected examples taken from Nemade’s literature which is not only against Hindu Dharma but is also vulgar, shows disrespect towards women; stooping to very low level. Warkaris had staged demonstrations in front of District Collector’s office against the same Nemade. We therefore, demand on behalf of all patrons of literature, patrons of history and Hindus that the managing committee of Dnyanapeeth award should re-consider its decision of conferment of award to Nemade. We also demand that names of all members of the committee set up for selecting Nemade for this award should be declared.
