RSS to hold ‘Hindu Kumbh’ on February 10

The function is aimed to draw more Hindus from the cross section of society on one platform and develop feeling of Hinduism in them – Prakash Shastri

The Malwa region unit of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) will hold ‘Ma Narmada Kumbh’, a mammoth public gathering, in Maheshwar on February 10, 2015.

About four lakh people are expected to gather in Maheshwar, situated 91 km from Indore, in neighbouring Khargone district.

The public meeting, called as ‘Hindu Sangam’ or ‘Samajik (social) Kumbh’, will last for about four hours. Many senior RSS
functionaries, saints, including RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, are expected to be present on the occasion.

Malwa region ‘sanghchalak’ Prakash Shastri said the function is aimed to draw more Hindus from the cross section of society on one platform and develop feeling of Hinduism in them.

“This is to bring social unity and social harmony among Hindus,” he told HT.

Over one lakh RSS volunteers will knock every door in 14 districts of Indore and Ujjain division to gather for ‘Samajik Kumbh’. The villagers will be given small copper pitchers and will be asked to bring pure water in them which will be poured into Narmada river, which flows along Maheshwar.

Unlike ‘Kumbh’ and ‘Simhastha’, the largest Hindu gatherings, which are held after fixed intervals at fixed places, ‘Hindu Kumbh’ is organised as and when such gatherings are needed. Also, they are held at different places.

Meanwhile, the RSS units in western MP have been mobilised to make ‘Hindu Sangam’ a success.
