By Staff Reporter

Mumbai (Maharashtra): At the Royal Western India Turf Club, Mahalakshmi Racecourse, an auction of paintings has been organized which will be biggest auction held in Mumbai so far. It is learnt that paintings of anti-Hindu M F Hussain have also been included in this auction. (There have been more than 1500 police complaints filed against Hussain’s hatred towards Hindus and it is a matter of shame for Hindus and patriots in this country that paintings of such artists are openly auctioned. Every citizen who is proud to be an Indian and Hindu should try to stop such auction – Editor). The exhibition is being held by ‘India on Canvass 2007’ to help the poor and neglected children looked after by a social organization called ‘Khushi’ from Delhi. (Fans of Hussain trying to auction his paintings are in a way indirectly supporting his sins of drawing nude and obscene pictures of Hindu deities and Bharat Mata. Hindus must stop such unrighteous and anti-nationals – Editor). Industrialists, cine artistes and Indian cricketers will be attending the auction. As reported by DNA, in this auction, paintings by Hussain and renowned female indutralist Smt. Parameshwar Godrej will be auctioned and put up for sale starting from Rs. 16 millions whereas paintings by Shri. Suhas Roy and Shri. Bal Keshav Thackeray will be sold starting from Rs. 3 millions and the auction is said to be first of its kind. There will be in all 135 paintings by different artistes.

In this background, Shri. Shivaji Vatkar, the Mumbai coordinator of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) contacted Smt. Vandana Tora of the oragnisation ‘Khushi’ from Delhi. Shri. Vatkar spoke to her over phone and told her that activities of ‘Khushi’ have been commendable; however, there could be opposition if Hussain’s paintings are kept for auction. Smt. Tora advised him to contact Smt. Karima Jain at Mumbai in this regard. Shri. Vatkar then called up Smt. Jain and told her that although the purpose of such auction was good; as reported by DNA, there will be auction of painintgs even by Hussain which is objectionable and unacceptable. If his paintings are included in the auction, there could be strong protest within the State of Maharashtra. Smt. Jain said that she was thankful for bringing the matter to her notice and she would inform the organizers. Later, Shri. Nath, the organizer of the auction called up Shri. Vatkar and acknowledged advice given by him and told him that Khushi was doing very good job by helping the poor and neglected children so also blind and old people. This is the biggest auction organized so far. Shri. Vatkar told him, “ I am also associated with a social organization that believes in helping organizations like ‘Khushi’; but you must be knowing that Hussain has hurt religious sentiments of Hindus and all citizens of this country by drawing nude and obscene paintings of Hindu deities and Bharat Mata. Therefore, you go ahead with this auction but only exclude paintings by Hussain. If his paintings are displayed in auction, we shall oppose.” Shri. Nath said that this program will be attended by very important personalities like the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shiv Sena Chief Balasaheb Thackeray and others; as such no problem was envisaged in conducting the program. As the program was on alarge scale, he alone was unable to take any decision; but he would inform about the protest to his organizing committee which would take decision in the matter. Shri. Nath said, “I respect your feelings and thank you for informing me in advance.” Shri. Vatkar also extended his best wishes for the program and hoped that the committee would take decision to remove paintings by Hussain.
