Dhubari (Assam) : For the first time in Assam, Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) is making efforts to bring Hindus together and under this drive, ‘Hindu Yuva Manch’s ‘Gou-seva’ Cell and HJS took part in a program held to celebrate ‘Gopashtami’ festival. Shri. Ramesh Shinde, the national Spokesperson of HJS demanded, while addressing the ‘Dharma-sabha’ held on the occasion, implementation of Act imposing ban on cow-slaughter, throughout the country.

Shri. Shinde said, “Hindu Dharma states importance of protection of cows since ancient times. Raja Dilip from ‘Raghu-vansh’ had protected ‘Gou-mata’ from a lion that had come to kill cow; by offering to sacrifice own life. Sage Vishwamitra had taken Sriram – Lakshman with him for destroying demons who used to not only create obstacles in ‘Yadnya’ but also killed cows. It is the responsibility of BJP Government to implement law banning cow-slaughter all over the country. There were demons that made cows as their prey during the era of Sriram; even now, those who consume cows should be treated as demons and should be punished.”

‘Gopashtami’ festival was staretd with performing ‘puja’ of a cow at the hands of Shri. Kaivalyanath Swami and procession was taken out through the town. After the procession, ‘homa-havan’ was performed at Sri Kalibadi Devasthan; concluding the celebrations with ‘Dharma-sabha’. Shri. Tapan Das, the Secretary of ‘Hindu Yuva Manch’; Shri. Shivashankar Kundu, its executive Secretary; and Shri. Chandrashekhar Roy, its treasurer were the main eminent persons joining the celebration of festival.
