Panvel (Maharashtra): Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajarang Dal have organized a mammoth rally on 1st August 2007 at 4.00 p.m. to protest against the proposed ‘Temple take-over’ Act. The rally will start from Visava Hotel opposite the State Transport Bus stand and will conclude at Sree Virupaksha Mahadev Temple. Prof. S. G. Shevade will be the main speaker. Shri. Ramesh Shinde, the spokesperson of Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) will also participate in the rally.

The Government has found a new ploy to grab the funds collected at temples to repay its debts owed due to corruption and mismanagement. The Congress-led Government that has failed on all fronts has found a new way to grab money by taking over management of more than 4 lac temples and religious institutions in the State on recommendations of the 15th Law Commission. In terms of the proposed Act, Govt. can dissolve any temple trust and bring it under Govt. control. This will enable the Government to use devotees’ money in the manner it wants. The anti-Hindu secular Government has excluded mosques, durgahs madarassas and churches from purview of the said Act.

The consequences of handing over the reins of the management and funds gathered by the temples to politicians who are responsible for India to top the ranks amongst the most corrupt nations in the world today is but obvious. The very existence of temples is being threatened as in the pretext of development; the politicians are ruining citizens’ lives. VHP, has therefore, appealed to all Hindus to participate in the rally in large numbers.
