Devout Hindus demand with PM Modi for ban on abattoir

Rashtreeya Hindu Andolan at Bengaluru against cow-slaughter

Activists from different organizations staging demonstrations

Bengaluru (Karnataka) –  Cow-slaughter is taking place in India on large scale when cows are revered like a mother, by all Hindus. This has resulted in considerable decrease in number of cows. At one time, there were more than 900 million cows in this country which number has gone down to 10 million. Devout Hindus, therefore, staged demonstrations under ‘Rashtreeya Hindu Andolan’ at Town Hall in Bengaluru; against cow-slaughter taking place all over the country. A representation demanding ban on abattoirs was forwarded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. A large number of activists from Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS), Pujya Bapuji Ashram (Bengaluru), Kamdhenu Trust, Anubandh Trust etc. took part in the demonstrations.

The following demands were made by devout Hindus:

1. Sale of beef should be treated as crime against nation and religion.

2. Import and export of beef should be considered as crime and grants given to exporters of beef should be immediately stopped.

3. Nurturing of Indian cows should be encouraged while ban should be imposed on nurturing of cows of foreign breed.

4. ‘Gou-shalas’, where Indian cows are taken care of, should be given grants.

5. Instead of sale of cows to butchers, farmers looking after cows, should be extended aid.
