Why we need to exhibit photographs of Hindu genocide?

Some of you will wonder why we need to exhibit such photographs of Hindu genocide at all. Some of the reasons are quite obvious while others are not and the importance of these reasons varies from person to person.

Pictures depicting atrocities are a reminder of the injustice against Hindus
Such exhibitions depicting atrocities are displayed wherever brutal injustice is caused to man. An example of this is the pictures depicting atrocities committed by the Nazis on the Jews. Despite this occurring several decades ago even today such exhibitions are being held all over the world. Why are these exhibitions being held?

The Chancellor of Germany Gerard Shroeder when attending a memorial meeting spoke thus to the survivors of the ‘Auswitz’ concentration camps, on its 60th anniversary, “All these acts are purely devilish. The devil is neither political nor scientific yet now no one need doubt that demoniacal forces do exist , that is we cannot shirk responsibility for all that has happened simply by stating that the demoniacal Hitler did it all. The Nazis already displayed features of this demoniacal attitude even before this. These cruel thoughts which had influenced them also had some traditional background and deterioration of moral values. Though now it is impossible to change the past the present remains. All these bitter memories are a part of our nation. The people of Auswitz are trying to convey the message to us to remain vigilant at all times.”

The exhibition should make one turn inwards!
To summarise, each one of us here has either heard or read about the scenario in Kashmir or the terrorism in Kashmir or Bangladesh. Reading about atrocities is different from actually viewing pictures in that regard and the motive of this exhibition is to make one turn inwards. If viewing these pictures generates some amount of emotion in us then one can say that one is cultured and it is such minds which can be made introverted.

Introversion can assist in the process of changing the future
Introversion is meant to enable one to think with sincerity. Each one of us needs to analyse how earnestly we contemplate on this issue. If one is able to analyse the issue earnestly then one is able to present those thoughts fearlessly and only then will the entire scenario change, not otherwise. This photo exhibition is meant to create this kind of introversion.

What is our viewpoint regarding the question of terrorism?
The Kashmir issue or the prevalence of terrorism is existing in India for the past 1 ½ to 2 decades. We need to ponder on whether we view this problem of terrorism as a mere incident of atrocities committed on someone, somewhere or an act of wickedness against one’s countrymen or as injustice against one’s Hindu brethren or just because now terrorism has now reached our doorstep. If the reason is the first one then there is absolutely no ray of hope. However if the reasons are one or more of the other three then it means that the mind is turning inwards and we can expect a change in the scenario.

Are we going to accept responsibility for this?
Today there is utter chaos in society. When Hindu protagonists express the pathetic condition of Hindus they are labeled as communal. We need to think on why this is happening. The real issue is whether we are willing to take responsibility for all this after becoming introverted. When these massacres were occurring we were already educated citizens of the country. We were also taught pledges that ‘We are proud of the traditions and people of this country and that we would strive to protect it’. It is ironical that despite all these happenings we are still in a state of hibernation. The Hindu society in Kashmir was cent percent educated and had no criminal records at all. That is why I am not at all surprised that these people did not resort to violence. I am aghast at the fact that despite seeing these horrific happenings and reading about them we were not able to do anything at all and what little was done was not sufficient at all because otherwise the problem of terrorism would not be at our doorstep today. This just goes to prove that what we did was insufficient.

Why should the issues of Kashmir and Bangladesh arise at all?
Today crores of rupees are being spent to resolve the Kashmir issue. Despite best efforts to find solutions in the past several years we have not met with any success. That part of Kashmir which belonged to India since 1947 has been retained only by maintaining army vigilance there. This point ought to set the minds of politicians thinking. In 1990 the situation had come to a stage where there was a threat of losing control over that part of Kashmir.  Why did this happen after so many years of Independence? Why are inhuman atrocities committed in that very country, Bangladesh which was liberated by India? Politicians now need to contemplate on why 5-6 thousand Nepalis of Indian origin have had to take refuge in India.

Society deteriorates with time when solutions to failures are not found
The reason why I have set you thinking on these lines is because you are journalists and intellectuals, not the common man who is oblivious of such issues. That society which does not make any sincere attempts to solve problems after understanding failures and does not remain vigilant at all times deserves to go downhill. If we do not find answers to our failures then with passage of time we are destined to get destroyed. Even in the last 25 years one had not dreamt that we would reach a state in which 4 lakh Hindus from Kashmir would become refugees and 60,000 would be victims of terrorism, but today that is the reality. So not believing that this could be true would only be a deception.

I do not think I need to say more. I certainly do not intend to force my opinions on you but by viewing this exhibition I hope you will turn inwards and find answers to these queries.
