Mathura (Uttar Pradesh) – A 200-year-old life-size statue of the queen of Britain, Victoria, at Mathura museum, reminding them of slavery was damaged by devout Hindus on 8th August. The Police have arrested devout Hindus by registering offence against them under section 307 of IPC. Other devout Hindus have protested the action taken by the Police under the section, which is non-bailable and compared the Police to Razakaras under British rule.

Reacting to the action taken by the Police, Mr Manoj Choudhari (Of Bharat Punarnirman Sangh) said, 'To damage the statue of was the outburst of Hindu youth against system. To preserve the signs of British rulers, fighting against whom revolutionaries have sacrificed their lives is a contempt of martyrs. If British system of governance were to continue, such outburst by the youth would be repeated.'
