Maharashtra : Governor to ask State Government for implementation of Act banning cow-slaughter

Mumbai, 20 July – The Governor of Maharashtra, K. Shankaranarayan has promised to ask the State Government of Maharashtra to pass Act banning cow-slaughter which is pending for the past 18 years. He said that he would soon meet the Chief Minister in this context. Delegation of BJP MLAs led by Shri. Mangalprabhat Lodha met the Governor when he made the above promise. On 18th July, Shri. Mangalprabhat Lodha accompanied by famous Jain Muni, Pujya Nayapadmasagarji Maharaj, Pu. Veetaragayashaji Maharaj, Pu. Vinamrasagarji Maharaj, Shri. Rajendra Patil, ‘Gou-rakshan Chief’ of VHP for Konkan region, its Dy.Chief, Shri. Lakshminarayan Chandak, Jain Shakti Foundation’s Shri. Kanak Parmar, ‘Mahajanam’s Shri. Girishbhai, ‘Vardhaman Parivar’s Shri. Atul Shah etc. met the Governor.  

Shri. Lodha explained to the Governor about need for passing such Act. He said that the Act was pending for past 18 years. If it was implemented, it would help to increase fauna in the State which will in turn, help in farming; development and preservation of environment; therefore, the Governor should issue order to the State Government for passing the Act within 30 days.
