Goa CM Manohar Parrikar and Goa Minister Sudin Dhavalikar

Panaji (Goa) : Public Works Department Minister Shri Sudin Dhavalikar had recently commented that to ensure safety of women and in interests of protecting our culture, a ban on the pub culture and indecent clothing was necessary. When reporters asked Chief Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar about this, the CM commented that the views expressed by Shri Dhavalikar are his own and that he (the CM) would not wish to comment on them. The state's 18 media houses have presented his comments in different ways. So i am not sure about what exactly Shri Dhavalikar said, however I did not find anything to be offensive in what he told me. I agress with his views.

Everyone knows that alcohol is injurious to health, but the Government cannot interfere in what goes on between the 4 walls of a pub or bar. So currently anyon who indulges in drinking in pubs r bars can do so without fear of being arrested, but we will initiate strict action against those found doing so on beaches and other public places. What clothes one should wear is a personal matter. So there is no question of the state interfering with it, nor is it necessary for the media to raise hue and cry about it. Everything is going well in the state, and there is no need to institute new laws is all I wish to say at this point.

CM Parrikar takes the media to task for indulging in sensationalism !

CM Manohar Parrikar also took the media to task for twisting news out of proportion and presenting only certain angles of a story just for the sake of sensationalism. He asked why the media did not feel that Shri Pramod Muthalik or Shri Sudin Dhavalikar could exercise their freedom of speech, while batting for Devu Chodankar (who had criticised Narendra Modi).
