No caste-bar for priest at Pandharpur’s Vitthal Mandir : Anti-Hindu decision of Temple Committee

Vaishakh Shuklapaksha 2, Kaliyug Varsha 5116

  • If a Muslim priest is appointed to show ‘Sarva-Dharma-Samabhava’, people should not be surprised !

  • In Hindu Rashtra, Hindus’ temples will be relieved from the clutches of Government and will be handed over to devotees for managing !

Pandharpur (Dist. Sholapur) : Sri Vitthal worshipped by millions of Hindus, will now have priest from any caste for performing ritualistic worship. It was decided in a meeting of temple committee held on 26th April, to appoint a priest on salary for daily ‘puja’ of the Deity. In the name of eradication of caste system, such inappropriate decision has been taken only in respect of Hindu temple by the committee of Sri Vitthal Mandir creating displeasure amongst pro-Hindu activists and devotees. (Government-appointed temple committee has taken such decision only to spite Brahmins! – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)

  1. As per the verdict passed by the Supreme Court on 15th January, Vitthal Mandir has been completely taken over by the Government and traditional rights of ‘Badave’, ‘Utpat’ and 7 ‘Sevadharis’, who are in service at this temple for hundreds of years, have been withdrawn.
  2. After such verdict, experienced employees of Sri Vitthal Mandir were carrying on regular ‘puja’ of Sri Vitthal – Rukmini and now, the committee has decided to appoint a person on permanent basis on salary for such daily ‘puja’.
  3. Anna Dange, the President of Temple Committee informed that the new members have not yet been appointed on the Board of Trustees; therefore, there is still confusion about the decision.
  4. No instructions have been received from Law and Justice Department regarding recruitment; as such process of appointing a priest on salary will be completed as per the decision taken in the Committee meeting.

Anti-Hindu Temple Committee trying to destroy ‘chaitanya’ by discontinuing traditions followed for hundreds of years !

There are many examples of next generation carrying on business of family as it is observed that some qualities are passed on in next generation through genes and the next generation helps the business to flourish. While practicing priesthood, it is very important to maintain ‘sattvikata’ and purity. Those, who have been following the traditions as priests, pass on the traditions and culture to next generation that continues same traditions. It also helps people coming for worshipping. The ‘Badave’ families have been performing ‘puja’ in Vitthal Mandir for hundreds of years and by giving them the responsibility, people also benefit. It is necessary to look at this issue from the viewpoint of social welfare rather than issue related to caste system.

Unrighteousness promoted by Government !

Desirous Hindu candidates who believe in God, know about daily rituals carried out in temple and have knowledge of ‘Vedic Mantropachaar’ can send applications for the post of Priest (Pujari). Advertisements will be published in newspapers for the same. After the election code of conduct is withdrawn on 18th May, the process of selection will be completed, informed Anna Dange, the President of Mandir Committee. (People should realize the adverse effects of ‘govermentalization’ of temples and stage strong agitations for handing over management of all temples to devotees from the control of Government ! – Editor, Dainik Sanatan Prabhat)
