HJS undertakes special drive in Karnataka for celebration of New Year by hoisting ‘Gudhis’ !

Karnataka : A special drive was undertaken by Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) for hoisting ‘Brahma-Dhvaj’ in house of every Hindu by explaining its importance. Demonstration was shown on the method of hoisting ‘Gudhi’, science behind the ritual and how bliss is experienced when everything is done as explained in Dharma-shastra’.

  1. How ‘Gudhi’ is to be hoisted was shown in many districts, talukas and villages in Karnataka. More than 10,000 handbills were distributed explaining significance of ‘Gudhi Padava’.
  2. Through medium of 8 local TV channels, the subject was reached to 8, 95, 000 viewers.
  3. 1150 posters were displayed in towns and villages and at 16 places, lectures were held on importance of Gudhi Padava.
  4. Direct transmission of hoisting Gudhi was made by two local TV channels in Mangaluru. The topic was also explained using the medium of FM radio.
  5. On 171 display boards, matter explaining importance of Gudhi Padava was written.
  6. New Year greetings were sent to 2500 people using sms. Thus, message about Gudhi Padava was sent to maximum number of people using different media.
  7. At 14 places, right method of hoisting ‘Gudhi’ was demonstrated. In 5 villages in Hubli, and at 2 places in the city, demonstration of erecting Gudhi was shown. In Belgali village, local residents and youth members were collectively shown, on the previous day of this festival, how Gudhi is erected. About 50 people attended the Gudhi-demonstration and on the day of the festival, Gudhi was hoisted in 17 houses.
  8. Procession was taken out at Haliyal; hundreds of people visited houses of local residents; explained importance of hoisting Gudhi and distributed saffron flags. Saffron flag was distributed in 700 houses. The drive was undertaken by devout Hindus and activists of HJS. Similar drive was undertaken even at Dharwad, Gadag, Lakshmishwar, Hospet, and Ranebennur.
  9. More than 1000 people watched the demonstration of erecting Gudhi at 14 places and this year, Gudhi was hoisted in more than 800 homes.
  10. At 5 places, demonstration on erecting Gudhi was shown at Bagalkot, Badami, Vijaypur and Raichur. Then, at 22 places, Gudhi was erected. Importance of hoisting Gudhi was explained and demonstration was shown at 6 places in Udupi, 5 places in Mangaluru, Hassan, Shivmogga and Bengaluru.

Highlights

  1. Devout Hindus resolved to hoist ‘Gudhi’ in 700 houses with the help of HJS activists at Haliyal and even saffron flags were hoisted in 700 homes at Tergaon.
  2. Local youth organized special program at Shankarnagar, Hubli on the occasion of Gudhi Padava in which activists of HJS were invited to give lecture on the subject; there were 5 Saints on the dais. (Earlier, the youth who used to celebrate New Year on 1st January, now celebrate New Year on Gudhi Padava after awareness was created in them towards the issue.)
  3. At Lakshmishwar, 21 trainees held demonstration on Gudhi Padava and 6 of them hoisted Gudhi at home.
  4. At Belgali (Hubali), 40 persons attending self-defence classes, showed demonstration on erecting Gudhi on the previous day of the festival and 17 of them hoisted Gudhi at home.
  5. A devout Hindu named Manju, who had seen the demonstration, collected 40 men and women from his village and celebrated Gudhi Padava in ideal manner.
  6. A devout Hindu from Udupi, watched the demonstration of erecting Gudhi and after going home, contacted for further details so as to celebrate the festival abiding by Dharma.
  7. Trainees from Badami held demonstration of hoisting Gudhi at 11 places.
