Hindu Janajagruti Samiti office-bearers met Bangalore Police Commissioner Raghavendra Auradkar and submitted a memorandum in this regard. “He will arrive on a tourist visa and hence organising a summit is illegal,” they claimed.

The office-bearers have decided to meet Home Minister K J George on Saturday and submit to him a separate memorandum, seeking a ban on Hinn’s visit.

Meanwhile, Around 2,000 people from various Hindu groups on Friday staged a demonstration in the City, urging the State government to bar the controversial American evangelist, Benny Hinn, from attending a religious event set to be held here from January 15 to 17.

Addressing the protesters, researcher and writer M Chidanandamurthy and senior RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to ensure that Hinn did not visit the City.

“Hinn is coming to Karnataka with a hidden agenda of converting Hindus to Christianity as he did when he visited Bangalore in 2005. Several organisations are secretly working for the success of the event,” they said.

Hinn claims himself to be a miracle crusader and his revival meetings or faith healing summits are organised to “mislead” innocent public. Hinn’s visit would adversely affect peace and harmony in the society and hence the government should immediately act, they demanded.
