Tirupati : Hindu Garjana Sabha was held on Indira Ground, Opp. TUDA office, Tirupati on 20th December Friday. Muslims circled the Tirupati's SP office on 19th December demanding to stop the Sabha. Till 19th December evening Tirupati Police and TUDA did not give permission for the Sabha. TUDA authorities had even locked the gate of the Indira Ground on 20th December morning till 7 AM.

  • Seers demand to remove whole Islamic University
  • More than 2500 Hindus came from 3 states
  • Around 10 News Channels made Live telecast of Sabha
  • Oath taken to protect sanctity of Tirupati

Report from New Indian Express : Speaking at a well-attended public meeting, Hindu Garjana, at the TUDA grounds here Friday, several seers and pontiffs of various mutts slammed the State government for giving its nod to the university. The women’s university, which has 325 students, was originally supposed to be a G+1 building. However, six floors have been constructed. The Hindu religious leaders demanded that it be shifted from its present location and alleged that it was a “deliberate attempt at destabilising social harmony” in Tirupati. A security cordon was thrown around the TUDA grounds where the meeting, attended by thousands, was organised by the Tirumala Tirupati Pavitrata Parirakshana Samiti and also at the Islamic University. Tension prevailed in the town prior to the meeting with the authorities refusing to give it permission till the last minute and the Samiti threatening to besiege the university.

The report from The Hindu : At an event billed as Hindu Garjana, organised under the banner of the Tirumala Tirupati Pavitratha Samrakshana Vedika, a platform of pontiffs and activists was formed “to protect the sanctity of the Seven Hills.”

Presiding over the meet, Saiva Kshetra Peetadhipathi Siva Swamiji said the Vedika was not against local Muslims, who he said were in the dark on the issue.

Their opposition was to the way some people from other regions were seeking to build the institution in an inappropriate location.

He blamed the ‘minority appeasement’ policies of politicians, and the unquestioning consent by officialdom, for the problem.

Violation of norms

He said a six-storey structure had been built in the ‘Pushkarini’ (tank) of the dilapidated temple of Thimmappa (as Kannadigas know Lord Venkateswara), in violation of building and urban development norms.

Swaroopanandendra Saraswathi, pontiff of the Sarada Peetham in Visakhapatnam, said seers had to take up the issue as political leaders had failed to address it.

He saw a looming security threat to the shrine in Tirumala. “Hindu temples enjoyed better patronage during the British rule.”

He said a Srivari Dandu (Lord’s army) would be formed to remove the structure.

We will not let the Tirupati to become another Ayodhya : Shri. Ramesh Shinde

The TUDA was saying that our Hindu Garjana Sabha is illegal, but they should first answer if the Islamic University is illegal or not? Hindus from North India were asking whether they should come to this Sabha, but we told them that Hindus from Andhra Pradesh are strong enough to stop this University. Through this sabha, we warn the government that Tirupati is ours and we will not let Tirupati become another Ayodhya.

HJS Andhra Pradesh Spokesperson Shri Chetan Janardan called the Hindus to tighten the protest after this Garjana Sabha. He ensured that TTPSV will continue its protest till the Islamic University demolished.

Shri Kamalananda Swamiji, Hindu Makkal Kachhi founder Shri. Arjun Sampat, Hindu Dharma Raksha Samiti president Shri. Chedaluri Gaurayya, Activist Shri. Aakula Krishna Kishore, Hindu Leader Shri. Jayachandra Hindu and various state seers were present in this sabha.
