Those, who passed the Act despite opposition by Hindus, will now cancel it due to Muslims’ opposition !

Nagpur (Maharashtra) : The Government is passing anti-superstitions Act without taking Muslim population in confidence. No discussions were held with us and such Act is being passed. It has, therefore, created displeasure amongst Muslim community and we oppose such Act. A press release to the above effect has been issued by ‘Elite Muslims’ organisation.

Shahid Sharif of this organisation has stated in the press release that ‘while explaining definition of quacks, reference has been made to Mujawar and Gaddinsheen. Mujawar is a person, who serves in durgah. When ‘chaddar’ is offered at Durgah, such offering is made through Mujawar only. The Chief of all Mujawars is known as ‘Gaddinsheen’. Necessity to name a person, accused of being involved in black magic, should be provided in the Act; besides, ban has been imposed on advertising about those practicing black magic. It should not be banned as these advertisements will help in getting address of such person and action can be taken against him. The Government, however, did not take opinion of Muslim community into consideration while passing this Act. We oppose this Act’.
