Trimbakeshwar – ‘Kumbh-Mela’ is a tradition of thousands of years and the expenses towards organizing it, are for providing amenities to devotees. ‘Kumbh-Mela’ will take place; come what may! If you have guts, try to stop this ‘Kumbh-Mela’, was the challenge given by Sadhu – Mahants from Trimbakeshwar in a press conference, to Chhatrapati Sambhajiraje Bhosale, descendant of Chhatrapati Shivaraya.

  1. Swami Sagaranand Saraswati, the President of ‘Akhil Bharateeya Shad-darshan Akhaadaa’ said, “The British Government started extending grant for organizing ‘Kumbh-Mela’. A municipality was set up at Trimbakeshwar although the local population was very less.   It is very unfortunate that revered Chhatrapati Shivaraya’s descendant is talking against holding of ‘Kumbh-Mela’ claiming that the expenses made towards the same are unnecessary.
  2. Mahant Shankaranand Saraswati, the ‘Mahamantri’ of ‘Aakhaadaa Parishad’ said, “It is very shameful that descendants of a king, who is known as King of the people, are making such statements. One should not take advantage of rights received only in tradition for being descendant of noble, revered persons and play politics. Kumbh-Mela is our cultural glory; there are great traditions and we should respect such traditions. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was not King of certain community or religion or Sect and not just Maharashtra but the whole country is proud of him. It is, therefore, not right for persons calling themselves as descendants of Chhatrapati Shivaraya to make such statements ridiculing traditions followed as per our Dharma. The funds spent by the Government are for devotees. Kumbh-mela will be held irrespective of what others demand ! One should not make statements to get cheap publicity and draw wrath of Sadhus and Saints.”
