Underwater city of Dwarka in Arabian sea getting damaged
March 18, 2007
Ahmedabad (PTI): The excavated city of Dwarka, the pristine abode of Lord Krishna, discovered by the octogenarian archeologist S R Rao under the Arabian sea in the coast of Gujarat is once again getting buried under the sands, thanks to neglect by the authorities.
This "under sea city of Dwarka" lies in close proximity to near the present Dwarka temple in Saurashtra. According to archeologists this under-sea city was the real Dwarka where Lord Krishna lived.
This was discovered by Rao and his team during an underwater excavation in 1994. The excavation had lasted for nearly 14 years.
A proposal by Rao to develop the site as underwater tourist attraction by cleaning up the site, provide support to the structures and shield them from degeneration has remained in the dusty shelfs of the government.
"Sea sand has once again covered the excavated city as it was not preserved. The stones would have been displaced from their original position due to currents and cyclones," Rao told PTI.
No under sea work has been done to preserve the site since they finished excavation in 1994, Rao who also discovered ancient city of Lothal said.
"We worked hard for 14 years to find the ancient city of 'Dwarka.' It was found under the sea waters in the Arabian Sea near the present Dwarka temple town in Saurasthra. We excavated it upto its foundation. It was a tedious task that we accomplished," Rao who is 86 year old said. (If they had to find a city like Dwarka in any other part of the world, then they would have with pride preserved it as historical monument. God has given us this glamorous historical monument, but due to the apathy of the good for nothing politicians, we are on the verge of losing it - Editor)

Dear sir,
I would like to see the pictures of products which are found in submerged Dwaraka city while exploring and which indicates the proof of the Lord Krishna's City.
we are living in a country where no value for life,i thik it is our mistake to expect some thing from the government, where politicians have time to find ways to vote bank and earn money but no time to concentrate and preserve the tresure of india ,we are watching the downfall of temple sancturies and temples itself and politicians playing blame game ,i think it is time to wakeup every common man in the country to preserve our faded history.

'Dwarka' the name it self inspires so many around the world. it is not only the Property of our great India and it is the responsibility of every indian to preserve the History, It is the place where our Grate grand fathers Our ancestors once lived. It is the place where the greatest personality on the earth lord krishna once lived and defined the value of life, mankind and explained about the good and the bad and given the guide lines to the future generations.
if you neglect such place's preservation, it is shame to us, shame to every indian, shame to hinduism. Please wakeup at least now. One thing to remember,If you neglect our History, The Future generations will neglect your history.

It is very simple. It is only through Lord Shiri Krishna's will that Dwarka was rediscovered. Otherwise, this was not possible. So my dear brothers & sisters, keep on protesting & let the politicians know that they cannot continue to ignore and surpass our divine history. The power of almighty will reveal itself very soon conquering those disbelivers. Hari Bol.

I agree that Mr. Narendra Modi should help preserve Dwarka city. We know he is a true Bhartiya, and we need to support him and somehow help him to look into the matter of preservation and converting it into a tourist attraction to help fund more excavation for Mr. Rao

I think this is the saddest part. Mr Narendra Modi is talking big things, but the hard core Hindutva Card holder is also not taking care of this means what? It is also very clear since ageas that Gujarat Govt has never done enough for tourism any time since years. So, from religious point of view and tourism point of view, I think the under water city will be again mistry for all of us. The only possibility I can see is if someone like Mr Rao will contact giant like Club Mahindra who can approach the Govt. As it is the well known fact that Mr Modi is very interested in investments in Gujarat! So Club Mahindra can develop a toursim attraction which can be a win win situation for all!

No changes we can make with discussions and complanes like this. Only thing we should do is to make a govt which helps us to conserve our culture. We always get this chance every 5 years, but we miss it ever since 1947. Even the west was astonished seing our deep culture, and they are jealous of it that is why they tell that "there was no human civilisation beyond indus valley" and more over "the indus people where not hindus". so fight for it using nails and teeths. Let sathi & savitri inspire our little girls not bollywood and hollywood. To make your hairs stand i will show u some proves, male me to toprejith@gmail.com

It is our misfortune, we have politicians of that psudo secular type and so called hindutwa type. Except clinging to their seats they dont seem to do any other things to preserve our glorious culture. In canada, i have seen , even some small places of historical nature of not even 100 to 150 years old are carefully preserved and developed into a great heritate tourist spot. Alas, we dispute the exisstence of Rama, krishna other hostorical figures dubbing them as myths and fundamentalist figures and preserve structures like taj mahan, fatehpur sikri fort ,tippus palace etc. etc. Whatever pre islamic documents are exissiting, they dispute them as trash and happily forget about them. Alas, God
i will show you lord krishna ..........
people wait for that day ....

It is right of masses of india, of the knowledge of legacy, that too if it has been found with such a great effort. There is no question of any religious affiliation of such a discovery. It was a proud moment, as it is analogus to discovery of mohan-jo-daro and harrapa civilization, and we are prouder to be quickest to destroy our find. At last it is a signature of our ancientness of our history, which the west hardly recognizes.

a lot of thanks to Dr.S.R Rao for discovering such place. The indian governament takes care when some thing happened minorities monuments, they does not worry about the mejorities properties.Because they wants to get the votes of those, also they are the turners.
Hey, thats a good and amazing news. Please attach some photographs of underwater dwarika, if you have and also describe me total story of your searching history.

It is true as mwntioned in the above article that our indian government neglects our ancient times which is the main cause for fast perishing of our culture like dwaraka under sea.though we have very proud past it is shame for us to be uncaoable of preserving it.Let us expect that our government gets a leaflet from egyptians who preserve their ancient biliefs even now which makes the world to look at them.

Can we expect Krishna's underwater city of Dwaraka to be preserved or developed by the anti-Hindu governments, when they want to destroy Rama's Setu near Rameshwaram? When the politicians, foreign controlled media and the foreign funded missionaries are out to destroy Hindu religion and culture?
The Gujarat Govt. should do its bit to ensure that Archaeologist Shri S R Rao and his team's brave effort of 14 years in excavating the holy Hindu site does not go waste. But, will the Sonia Gandhi inspired Central Govt. allow that?
Unless Hindus vote for pro-Hindu parties and control the affairs of this nation, as they should, there can be no redeeming of any Hindu interest.
