Controversy’s favorite child and Minister of State for Human Resource of Development Shashi Tharoor on Wednesday had courted yet another controversy by calling youth icon Swami Vivekananda alcoholic while speaking at an event on Swamiji’s 150 birth anniversary.

This has hurt the sentiments of the people with BJP leader O Rajagopal demanding an apology from the Union Minister.

Speaking to media in Thiruvananthapuram, Rajagopal slammed the remark of Tharoor who had said on the occasion of unveiling the statue of Swami Vivekananda that Swamiji ate meat and drank liquor.

Rajagopal also asked the Minister to withdraw his remarks and apologise for it. He added that it is wrong to portray such a great personality in bad light who is seen as an icon by youths of the country, he said.
