Hindu Human Rights received many complaints about the use of sacred imagery by ASOS. As is usual in these circumstances the retail outlet decided to use the sanctity of one faith in a manner it would never do for certain other belief systems. This is an unfortunate hangover of a bygone era when colonial mentality scholars belittled a civilisation and culture which they did not understand and viewed through the prism of a myopic western framework.

Nevertheless ASOS is a company which is proud of its high ethical standards and corporate responsibility. At a time when designer attire clad patrician types on high salaries go on international news channels and berate the working-class masses for causing Third World misery by buying cheap clothes, ASOS has built sustainable partnerships with producers and funded NGOs to help the poorest in those countries. HHR therefore is happy to say that this organisation has continued to enhance those high standards of responsibility by now withdrawing the offending product.
